for about one and a half pound meat
Re: gosht ka salan
Gosht ka shorba can be cooked in many different ways, actually I think every female will have her unique shorba gosht recipe. I have a few as well, the easiest is as following.
One medium onion (cut in boats), fresh ginger and garlic, one tomato.
One kg gosht, clean and cut into equal size pieces.
Salt, dhania, zeera, baRi illaichi, laung, daar cheeni.
Put all of these in a vessel, add 1½ glasses of water, less if you're cooking in pressure cooker. Cook till the meat is tender and water has evaporated.
Now add oil/ghee and fry over low heat till oil separates. Add yogurt (1 tbps) and laal mirch and fry till yogurt is all gone and oil separates again.
Now add two glasses of water and bring it to boil - turn the heat to medium-low, sprinkle some methi powder and coriander powder, cover and let it simmer over low heat till oil comes on top and you only have 1½ glasses of shorba.
Make sure that you have bone in the gosht, else you'll pretty much cook masalah with water.
Re: gosht ka salan
Here's how I make it.
Put lamb in a big pot and rinse it off a couple times.
Add 1 cup of water, salt, ground black pepper, haldthi, red pepper powder
Add 3 medium chopped onions, 3 gloves of garlic, about 4-5 tbsp of oil
Stir occasionally and cook this on medium heat until onions are dissolved and water has gone way down.
Add 1 med-large tomatoe, finely chopped.
Mix and mix and mix until tomatoe is dissolved and sauce has thickened. There should be no water and oil should separate somewhat. You can continue mixing for a few more minutes. At this point you can add some aloo or other vegetable if you want. Then add in 2-3 cups of water. If there's veg in there, let it cook on low for about 40min. But just shora can cook for 30 min. I like to add a little chopped dhuniya on the top too.
Re: gosht ka salan
Thanks So Much For Recipes. I Will Definately Try These Out. If You Dont Mind Though, Is It Possible To Include Exact Quantities Of Spices Such As Chilly Powder, Zeera, Dhaniya Powder, Salt, Garam Masala Garlic And Ginger. Very Much Appreciated. It Would Be For About 1 And A Half Pound Gosht.

Re: gosht ka salan
Thanks saimanyc - the recipe was real awesome. Very easy to follow and the salan was chatpaata. I added some fresh garlic instead of the paste and also added green chillies. At the end I added some garma masala.
Perfecto !! :)
