I just read in a novel that England ruled India not because of their superior technology, but due to their fair skin (gora rung) compared to Kali awam (janta) of India. The writer says that when a black man see a gora man, he loses his confidence and thus ready to accept his defeat. To prove her point the writer says that England could not conqueror other gori chamri wali nations like France and Germany inspite of having rivalry.
How do you see this theory?

Geramany conquered France in world war 2 and reached up to Stalingrad. does that mean Germans were much fairer that Brits:confused:.

But Germany couldn't make France its colony as England made India. The writers point was conveyed through two English characters. The English girl asked his lover, while watching sword of Tipu in a museum that 'what was the reason that we stayed and ruled in India for that long inspite of being in small numbers and local if wanted could kill us even with their lathis' :D

Germany kept it like colony, even plight of poland was similar, initially it was german controlled and they made jewish and polish labor as slave in their factories in Karkow and Warsaw. Soviets did the same till the end of their empire, Ruskies are most beautiful hence they kept half of their side of the world as colony that included east germany:D. and Both east and west germany played against each other in Football world cup too:D. this is new theory. brighter the skin more intelligent is the person, that means average Jat is more intelligent than average Madrasi:D

lols. Now the writer is saying another thing. 50 years ago local people considered Anglo-Indian people, their language and culture a laughing stock and inferior. But now everyone seems to be inspired and tries to copy them.. Shikari khud yahan shikar hogaya :D and Angrez chale gae apna culture chhor gae. Following foreign culture and considering ones own culture is another form of slavery.

Brutality was a tool for all the conquerors.. be it Nadir Shah, Abdali, Taimur Lane.. Everyone did brutalities to the conquered people and British were no exception.. British did play with their superiority. There were areas where locals were not allowed to enter. There were some restrictions on dress code too for the locals.

Nice point. but many of these rulers were either locals or came from nearby areas unlike English people who came from remote areas. May be they got better administrative skills over the period through their colonial experience.

But how can we quantify brutalities of British against the other conquerors of India. The conquerors used to kill whole cities, without any distinction of age, gender, etc.

thing about minority ruling india is false,ruling major parts of india is correct,british took major parts of india with coliation princely states same way mughals did thanks to no unity among rajputs
after harshavardhan there was no single native ruler with power,they split into many kingdoms,even harsha vardhana couldn't conquest southern cholas

Again Germany is in neighborhood of Poland. Rajas of Kashmir were Punjabi, Jammuites, Infact Azad Kashmir/POK is in reality azad Jammu, valley is in complete control of India. The writer also raised question to the basic theory of ruling gori chamri of black India by saying that Mughals were also fair colored and British defeated them. In writer's opinion, though Mughals were fair colored, but they lost their sense of superiority by mixing with locals and marrying in Rajputs, etc. :D
