Paf Sans Govt. Directive Cannot Retaliate Fata Aerial Raids: Air Chief

LAHORE: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief, Air Marshall Tanvir Mahmud said that the PAF was compliant to the government directives and, therefore, it could not take any retaliatory action on its own against the Angoor Adda-like aerial raids.
On the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of PAF College of Education here, Air Chief Marshall Tanvir Mahmud in a chat with the media said that the PAF on its own could not decide about any operation. The government has to apprise on the diplomatic level of the consequences of such raids, he said. He further said that we want the people gone off track in the tribal areas to get back on the right path

Red light = government isn’t giving military the permission to retaliate against US.
I think you have some serious analysis problems.
Sooner or later the military will ignore these orders, and will go ahead & do what is right. The current government will then give the Green signal just to show that they are in control, regardless of the fact that they do not have full control over the military. Quite similar to how Nawaz Sharif took the credit for the nukes, regardless of the fact that the military would’ve tested the nukes even if NS ordered not to.

LKC i thought you wrote green light, my apologies, though people normally use 'green lights' and not red lights.
Anyways, coming to your second post, no our army wont do anything without the Govt's approval. If they try to take any sort of action, they will get humiliated big time and if they take it on their own, like they did in Kargil, they'll only face further humiliation. Face it, our army over the course of years has become demoralized and stagnant, and taking on NATO or US forces is laughable.

Jang (urdu) reports, with reference to some Australian newspaper, that armed forces (that would include PAF) has been asked to retaliate against any NATO or US intrusions
