This looks like a sattelite image. When I googled my location, I got a graphic map. How do you get sattelite images using google?

funguy bhaijaan, when are on the maps.google.com page, look at the top right corner, there is a link for sattelite.
I know someother sites give images as well, but I like Google.
Umer, yes currently it is only for North America. Though don't quote me on this.
It's awesome. Check out your neighborhood (or that hot babe's neighborhood) from satellite.
Google bought this service from Keyhole, who had been charging $30 for it. Now it's free.

Some counties in the USA also have this sattelite feature on thier tax assesment web pages. I think it allows you to zoom in even further.

terraserver.microsoft.com has much better imagery than google, but google has map links to it, which is good. I am trying to compare which one has the latest images, but up to now it seems as they almost have the same time frame.
AJ, your office seem to be very close to a runway, I hope its just used for general aviation.

MiniMe bhaijaan, it's a small little airport, generally used by rich folks around for their private jets. The good thing is the airport people haven't figured out that my first name is Muhammad, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the window office. :D

interesting.. I am also working in a project to set up GIS in towns of Punjab.. soon municipal infrastructure layers would be available to service managers.. its a great feeling to see images and linking databases..

Degas that’s great, I know Punjab University has full GIS department but are there any other universities offering GIS courses in Pakistan, and to what extent they are providing these services.
In 1994, we (in UET) requested some aerial photographs from the city of Lahore (LMC & LDA) for airport site selection study and they didn’t had any aerial photographs at that time, I hope the situation is much better at this time.

GIS has really picked up in Pakistan.. SUPARCO provides images.. unfortunaly, not many universities offer courses in GIS.. Punjab University has a 2 yrs masters course though no short courses.. NUST or GIK have recently started short courses.. FAST offers through Punjab University.. DHA Karachi is in aprocess of full GIs mapping.. as well as DHA Lahore.. many govt. departments like agriculture, highways have started planning to use this modern planning tool.. LDA lahore had its image of Lahore but I think backed away from NESPAK deal.. somre telecommunication companies are also using this tech..
We have NESPAK as consultants as we needed 0.6 m resolution high quality images and as NESPAK has a great GIS team with Phd (GIS) heading it - they were our first choice..
