We all use Google search engine for not only searching but more than that. Like for me I use it as a Calculator, Weather guide and Currency Converter quite often.
For Calculator … I just type in the equation and it calculates it for me. For example if I’ll Google (100+(300*400)) than result will be 120100. Example
For Weather guide if I type in “weather in san francisco” … than it will give me the weather for next 4 days. Example
For Currency Converter if I type in “1000 usd in pkr” than it will convert the equivalent of $1000 to Pakistani rupees. 1000 U.S. dollars = 82 351.9723 Pakistan rupees Example
Here are a few things that can be used on Google to make search more customizable and get info that you need (use ‘:’ after the words):
phonebook: Search for phone numbers e.g. “phonebook:lastname, firstname”
filetype: Search for exact file types.e.g. “filetype:xls financial industry” would find all the Excel files with financial industry in it.
site: this term searches for the given words in a certain site. e.g. “site:microsoft.com spreadsheet help” would search for help files on the M$ site
define: gives the definition of words you type after it
stocks: get stock quotes e.g. “stocks:YHOO”
I know that in USA, you can txt Google from your phone with name of business and zip code and it will send you back the locations of all those business in that zip with address and phone number
so to find Starbucks in 91210 .. txt Starbucks 91210 ..
Alrite guys and gals its time to impress some ppl :smooth:
As Namaan said in his first post about using calculator, the example he gave is a very simple equation .You can try using difficult algebric, logrithmic, exponential, and trigonometric equations, and find the asnswers.
You can do Unit conversion e.g. 5 feet 10 inches in cm <<< type this in google and search it will give you 177.80 cm.
In the same way you can convert Miles into Kms, yards into feet, inches into meters, Degree Celsius into Fahrenheit etc.
You can convert numbers to and from Roman Numerals as well e.g. 2007 in Roman numeral >> Search >>> it will give you >>> MMVII
Okay now something interesting.. for books lovers.
Yes google can convert currency for you as Namaan mentioned. But what if you do not know the name of currency of some country… can happen rite? dont worry, just type e.g. Bahraini Money in Chinese Money and you will get the answer. try it, dont believe me
okay enough for now as i need to do some office work.. yuckkkkk
