Google Trick: Using Vs to find products

Over the years I’ve seen a lot of questions from ppl here asking about whether there are good comparable products in different critereas available.

I discovered that if you use the VS in Google you can find tons of info that may not show up if you’re looking for things using a genre.

For example if you want a product that compares to Photoshop do a search for

  • Photoshop vs
and with the new auto-suggest you’d see tons of options pop up.

Try it out and see how it works out for you.

Google Search

Re: Google Trick: Using Vs to find products

I guess being a heavy duty Google user for academic purposes, I never even gave thought to this, as it was second nature - esp. since the autocomplete feature was introduced.

Re: Google Trick: Using Vs to find products

I'm loving this auto-complete, i've discovered more crap with it than i care to discuss :D

Re: Google Trick: Using Vs to find products

yeah ... starting to type NAT (network access translation) for router/home network purposes autocompletes to natasha/russian brides/mail order brides and it happens precisely as i am pressing enter..

needless to say i use google with searches not restrictive and image searches show up within the web ones..

Re: Google Trick: Using Vs to find products

^:hehe: @ Russian brides,

Informative, Tofi, thanks :k:

Re: Google Trick: Using Vs to find products

^^ :hehe: NAT… that cracks!!!

btw, it all depends on your area. Google does keep record of searches from particular times and areas.... If i write something on google and then someone else write exactly the same at the same time but in different part of the world. the result is mostly different. based on your area/isp searched. Google might think you need a russian bride for a change :)...

:bummer:

anyway, i started thinking after i red above, vpn’d into this other connection and started typing NAT to see what shows up.. over there it was autocompleting as i was typing.. (maybe my connection here with google is lagged) over there it starts to show national geographic (usa server) and some high tubing vaccum/suction services.. (uk server) ..

i wonder if # of searches also has an impact on this

Re: Google Trick: Using Vs to find products

there are many other ways to refine your search you can put "-" to exclude anything from the reslult that is not relevant.
