Google Talk Sign In Problem

“Could not authenticate to server”

ye msg ata hai … kion?

I have a gmail account. I m on network & with or without my proxy settings it gives me the same msg.

Do i need a saperate invitation for it ? or some port etc i need to ask my cable provider to open for me ?

or something at my end?

can u try using ANOTHER gmail account?
is that the FIRST time u trying to login? (or u have successfully logged in before) ?

At the start I had a same problem, The situation is that I was on NAT firewall. But after some time it got fixed,, I dindt do anything... May be google realized and allowed NAT firewall to work with their system..

Google Talk works behind NAT/firewall as well ... that's what their site says about it.

Officially, google communicates via port 5222 but if that doesn't work then try port 5223.

telnet talk.google.com 5223 - nothing?

telnet talk.google.com 5222 gives a 302 not found

my sis was facing the same problem and I asked her to go into the settings and click on connection and to make sure that ‘Detect proxy automatically’ was selected. Did that and it started to work … I know its silly … *shrugs

yar same problem with me at home ..

tried it at University .. It logs In on those PC then it gives the "Illegal Operation perfomed" error .. n then the same .."Could not authenticate to server" err...

pata nahin kia masal hai ...
I've no Firewall Installed...
