Is anyone using it? I’ve heard so much about it in various podcasts and discussions but it never really hit home till I just tried it about 15 mnts ago. I’m blown away.
Its an extension in Chrome (also available for FF) that you install. And then you go your merry way browsing the web and when you find something cool you can take notes on it and copy paste text from that website…

… in the freaking Side Wiki!!
Once you have the notes you can go back to it anytime and/or subscribe to it using RSS etc etc. Pretty nifty.

when you take a note, it will automatically create public google profile for you.. i believe this is one more google privacy blunder.. they didn’t learn anything from the episode of buzz.

I used it for a while in 2009 / 2010 but gave up on it once I realized that there was little value-added… it was the early days for this social web annotation tool and the websites I was visiting didn’t seem to garner participation from others.
Anyways, I think the tool’s use has grown somewhat, and I’ll see if I wanna start using it again.

Its the side wiki extension, if you go there in Chrome it asks to install it for you. In FF and IE its a component of the Google Toolbar.
Or was the question, “what is an extension?”

And then in their videos they brag about how google employees came up THAT “IDEA” during their personal time… liars.
