Turkish hackers have reportedly taken down the Google Pakistan search page and 277 other website pages, and in one case left users an image of two penguins walking across a bridge, Ibnlive reported.
On google.pk, instead of a Google logo and search bar, the hackers left the page with a black layout and an image of two penguins walking on a bridge.
They also kept a message in Turkish on the page, the website reported. They also left a message ‘Pakistan downed’ at the bottom of the page, it said.
The site ‘google.co.pk’ was subsequently inaccessible to users.
TechCrunch later reported that the hackers were part of a group from Turkey called Eboz had hacked into over 278 Pakistani websites allegedly to point out security flaws in the site.
Apple, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Pakistani sites were among those hacked by the group and had to be taken down by the respective site owners.
It was an attack by Turkish hacking group and it brought down 300 plus Pakistani websites, including apple.pk, eBay.pk, Microsoft.pk and more. Hackers merely changed the dns entries for many Pakistani websites so they all became unreachable
Well people do it for couple of reasons and top most one is that because its thrilling .
Btw as a side note , these hackers made PLENTY of money when they got hired by all these IT security companies . I recently met one , and guy is making like 200k and filthy rich . So if you think that hackers are just chawal people with plenty of time on their hands , then think again .
I'm impressed. I have to give them credit, that's the work of a genius. (mean but genius) and why out of all places to hack did they choose Pakistan ?? Kinda sad.
The same reason that Anonymous hacked an Israeli politician's Facebook page and made it pro-Palestine: it's fun to troll.
So did they turks make the websites pro-turks or something? Anonymous had a reason - not saying it makes it okay. I just wonder why Pakistani websites of all places. There may very well be no reason and they did it because they think its fun to troll eh?
