Alright, mods, I checked that we don’t have a dedicated thread on this though we have talked about it in several other threads. However, I do want to share my experience and if you feel we need to merge, please do so freely.
I’ve had Google Now on the Nexus 7 but really didn’t use it much. Since I upgraded to Jelly Bean on my phone, I’m telling ya, this be my new best friend.
It works in sync with your Google Calendar, your Google searches and soon it gets to know you. So for example, let’s say I have a noon appointment today, it will pop up a notification telling me that given the current traffic conditions, I should leave my home or current location at such and such time so I can make it to my appointment destination on time. It will also chalk out a map for me and link me to the navigation.
Then there are some standard “cards” as they call it such as sports scores, weather reports, stocks, etc. that you can choose for your personal display. It knows when I leave for work every day so it warns me ahead of time of possible delays, etc. It also recommends which movies are on and that I would like based on my Internet activity. It also lists my appointments for the day, etc.
Now some people may call it nosey or invasion of privacy but you can choose how detailed you want it to get and what information of yours you want it to access. I am loving it as a tool and feel it really helps put all my to dos in one place.
Still waiting for my Ingress code. Can't wait, especially since I'm addicted to Second Life.
Here's another feature of Google Now I use a lot: Just type or say "email (or text) Tariq I'm running late from school" in the search field so a card comes up with his emails and all I have to do is click that card and boom! SO that saves me the headache of going into my email, typing the contact, and then typing the message/speaking it.
FOr some people that looks like fuzoolness, but since I've been using it, I dunno how to say it, I love it!
this is a little freaky. i loved it. last week it read thru my gmail and told me about my flights details. i never asked it to do that. thats a little too much for me i think.
Kanaydia, let me know what the exact model is on ur phone (Settings / About Device / Model Number). Its probably one of the following:
- GT-I9300
- SGH-T999
- SGH-I747
well i loved when it popped up random stuff like bus timings for buses i didnt even need to know about, or the weather. but how dare it show me actual personal info omgz! actually now that i think about it it may not have been from my email, just the calendar. in which case its not freaky. i send myself secret stuff in email and i dont want google now or anyone pulling at it.

You should do what the CIA director was doing with his mistress. Write emails and leave them in the draft folder :)
It can be. That is why I said you need to set it up the way you like it to be for you. It will only do what you allow it to do. Pretty much like friends…you establish the boundaries. If you don’t set limits, they may chipkoo with u when u are going to work out and you don’t want to go with them. Only thing is, you can disable Google Now; hard to disable that friend person.
He'll keep the s3, I'm in the middle of my contract right now, when it ends, I'm most likely going to make the change..maybe there will be an s4 by then :@:
