so got the notification a few mins ago about Google Buzz being available within my GMail service.
Haven’t tried out the full functionality yet, but have already buzzed with a few ppl, and all I gotta say is that Google really wants to be an all-in-one service for communication and collaboration. A few months back it was Wave, and now to directly compete with Twitter, here’s Buzz.
The main advantage here is that they’ve unlocked a user’s existing network within Gmail… but for some reason, I don’t feel too secure using it from within my Gmail inbox - may be just an initial trepidation…
just tested out the core functionality, and I have to say it feels like Wave Lite - prolly not enough widescale adoption of Wave could be one reason for this service??
here’s the promo video highlighting the main features:
i personally think that if google want to be really want to be an to be an all-in-one service then as a UI analytical prospect i think it shows that google wanted to see how good the competitor is with the interface, and how did the competitor achieved that interface it. which is to many of us is considered as Research & Development.
so in a way google is in a win-win situation...not only they figure out the interface of their competitors main technology model but also if their improved version of the similar idea clicks, they will have the monopoly.

Tried it, don't really like it. You're supposed to be able to share multimedia with it and get the social networking spin on it. Maybe replace your picture uploads on FB.
Too much sharing and caring going on . It is almost gay . Plus it being inside the email is annoying . I won't go inside my email to update my status . Blah .
I guess not many here use Twitter, but if you did, you'd see that Buzz is directly competing with that offering - and it's a richer version of Twitter since it allows direct embedding of media into the buzzes (assuming that's what they're called in the buzz world... analogous to tweets).
My only issue is that if we start seeing similar apps being developed for Google Buzz through an API as we've seen with Twitter, I'm just not comfortable giving a third party access to my buzzes within my Gmail.
Firstly that IS a concern. Secondly the kind of following Twitter has accumulated it would be tough for Google to catch up to. Consider me trying to compete in GS popularity with a Cafe socialite
