Re: Google buys YouTube
Me..... But how much we will get 1.65 Billion TKL (Turkish Lira) :p
Re: Google buys YouTube
i am pretty sure 1.65 billion TKL are still worth :) .. so now all we need is an idea.. hmm
Re: Google buys YouTube
What exactly would Google be getting out of this?
I'm sure revenue must be one by advertising. What are some other reasons?
Re: Google buys YouTube
Well, it was a direct competition for Google Video, so they wanted to eliminate it. That's my take on it.
Re: Google buys YouTube
Listen nthng is free in this world... google is taking on.. may be in later days google will start making its service only for paid user... and those who are using it free they may have to pay for it or leave it... any many will even pay to continue what they are up to....
Re: Google buys YouTube
online video sharing is going to be big in coming years. Everyone wants to get online and share pictures since last 5 years and picasa was an excellent tool for that. Now youtube has what it takes to capture the market. With Google's ability to make content deals with different networks (ABC, NBC, etc) they will be giving them much broader market exposure (google video wasn't this popular) also all these networks know that they need to get onboard with new web revolution.. ppl like to consume their content in short time and prefer it to be online...
Re: Google buys YouTube
Google video already had commercial videos on its site. One of the reasons it wasn't that popular is because of YT which was totally blasting GV out of the waters.
Now do you think that Google is going to keep running 2 different video sites?
Re: Google buys YouTube
yup they are.. both have different business plans behind them.. both can be profitable.. if used properly.
Re: Google buys YouTube
Tofibaba, I completely forgot about Google Video. You Tube was far more popular. Although, as Ansoon said the two GV and YT are different businesses, I doubt that they'd really be each others' direct competitors. Even if they do end up being direct competitors, in the end Google will be the winner, as it now controls/owns both.
Re: Google buys YouTube
Who cares about plans, in the end its traffic that matters.

Thank You](Official YouTube Blog for Latest YouTube News & Insights) October 11, 2006
I was trying to think what I should title this blog entryâŚâGooTubeâ, âYouTube is here to stayâ, âWhoâs a moron now Mark Cubanâ all came to mind, but I settled on the only thing I really can say - thank you. YouTube would not exist and be where it is today without the YouTube community. We owe everything to you guys and we will never, ever forget that.
Iâve been watching your videos, reading your comments and emails and I know there is a lot of concern and speculation of what may happen to YouTube because of the acquisition. I am here to say, if anything changes it will only be for the better. Being a start up, we have struggled a lot over the past year. Weâve had site performance problems and nasty bugs. We havenât always been able to respond to your emails or help you with your problems. There have been things we know we need to improve (like spamming and flagging) but just havenât had the time or resources to get it done as quickly as we would like. While there are still a lot of things to be hashed out over the coming months, many of the obstacles that used to stand in the way of us delivering you the best possible product have now been removed. And for all of you who have complained about our sucky search, well you can bet that will change. ![]()
So no, you wonât have to start paying for videos and YouTube wonât be replaced with Google video. We arenât going anywhere. YouTube and all the wonder that you have brought to it is here to stay.
From day one, every single thing we have done has been about building the site, building features for our users, continually making the product better. Our goal has always been users first, everything else second - and that will not change.
I honestly never expected to have this much passion for YouTube - but it is each and every one of you who has brought that out in me. You have awed me with your creativity, humbled me with willingness to share your lives, and yes, at times shocked me with yourâŚwellâŚnevermind. You have changed my life and opened my eyes in so many, many ways.
So once again, thank you, from all of us at YouTube.

Re: Google buys YouTube
With Google the owner all they have to do is stick Google Ads on there!

Re: Google buys YouTube
One of 3 co-founder was a 27 years old Pakistani bacha too. What a 20 months journey they had.
I remember YouTube used to have Google ads, so Google has a very idea about the revenue this site could generate if the middle man is cut (which in this case was the YouTube owner).
Re: Google buys YouTube
27 nahi hai yar... he was born in 1972
i read that article in which they say he is 27 and then say that he was born in 1972 ... anyway... m happy for him.
Re: Google buys YouTube
I donât buy into that. Iâm the Google god, i have Google video and now I have YouTube, why would i want to run both? Give me one compelling reason. Remember, its all about making money in the end.
