Google is developing a new PC for internet / browsing purpose with its own Operating System.. i wander if they r going to take Microsoft head on with this Operating System or they r going to develop a specialized Operating system who doesn;t do anything other than browsing..

Finally it comes. I have saying that since before google went public that their intentions are on the Desktop. In a few years there will be GOServer OS.

Google will unveil its own low-price personal computer or other device that connects to the Internet.
Sources say Google has been in negotiations with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., among other retailers, to sell a Google PC. The machine would run an operating system created by Google, not Microsoft’s Windows, which is one reason it would be so cheap — perhaps as little as a couple of hundred dollars.

But the difference is a lot now… when MS starting doing this there wasn;t any tough competition now MS has a strong hold on market… So they will be giving a tough time.. and secondly real bzness lies with the big corporation and asking them to change to a different thing is a tough job to do…
So i don;t know if they will be able to get some sizeable market share with their new OS..

They have denied the PC but they Google hasn;t denied releasing an OS… maybe they plan to build an OS and offer the current hardware manufactures to build a PC around it… in this way they can reach all the potential buyers and also they won;t have to get all the trouble of building and selling and giving support for hardware.
i still think they definitely are readying some sort of OS.. everybody knows google hired quite a few ppl in the last couple of years even from MS and i don’t think these sort of ppl will be developing the gmail and orkut..
They must be developing something real big.

In a war between google and MS; Google will win. it will take some time but google will eventually have more than 50% of the market share of the world.
