ditto, thats where I went, from kindergarten to Alevels, and if given the choice, I'd do it all over again. The one in Islamabad is really good.

Sorry for the delayed responses Albelli. We probably don't have that many people from Islamabad here. If I don't see a bunch of responses for you soon, I'll move this thread to Career & Academics. Thanks for your patience!

Another thing is, times have changed... Beaconhouse back then was a school for just the elite. I remember having alot of sons and daughters of high ranking officials, diplomats etc back in the day. They had a lot of foreign faculty members too, not that the Pakistani one werent trained very well or anything of that sort. So what I tell you might not hold true today but the students there still excel in the international O/A Level Exams so they have a sound base.
All the teachers uptil grade 7-8 as far as I can remember were female. The school follows a British Curriculam for higher education (Cambridge, GCE O and A Levels) though thats not pertinent since your child is only 4. For more information, please visit the regional headquarters located on Nazimuddin Road F-7 next to the Blue Area (Saudi Pak Towers) and Hydrocarbon Institute of Pakistan.
Sorry for the delayed response. I am not from Islamabad but my hubby's family lives there. My nieces and nephews attend Beacon House and International School of Islamabad. ISOI has a US style curriculum. Tuition is around $5000 per year for kindergarten. I believe the upper grades are around $13,000-14,000 per year.
I am not sure about tuition at Beaconhouse, but I know the school follows the British system. However, both are excellent schools.
Check out this school via their website and then when you get to Pakistan, make an appointment to talk to the Head Teacher and ask to be shown around.
They interview your child, give them three exams and place them in a class for a few days - after that they decide which class he/ she should go into. Its strict but the kids that go to that school are so intelligent and even 3 year olds hand-writings are so beautiful with the flicks’ at the end of the letters!!! Lol!
I taught in the Montessori branch of Headstart in Islamabad about 6-7 yrs ago so I can vouch for that. it was a relatively new school back then, lots of emphasis on one-on-one instruction, 2-3 teachers to a classroom till class Prep (5 yr olds), disciplined classrooms but lots of fun activities too. Of course i don’t know if they have maintained that standard, so you can call for an appointment, do a tour and all that. good luck heres the website:
well its owned by this lady nazneen murtaza and her hubby, i believe his name was mustafa...don't remember a mr.aftab, but then i was more or less limited to the montessori branch and dealt with the vice principal there, not so much with the higher-ups.
Iggle is right. Preparatory School Islamabad is really a great school. I've been there since third grade and am finally leaving after I graduate from tenth grade this year. This school really builds a child's character. You're not going to find a learning environment like this anywhere. I admit, though, that the school is quite strict. The level of discipline was suffocating a few years ago, but it has softened a little now. And it is pretty expensive. (But not as much as ISOI, of course.) They provide kids with books, notebooks, stationery and mid-day snack, so I guess it's worth it. :)
my Aunt and cousins just imigrated to pakistan, islamabad and have started at beacon school, my aunty says that she is very happy with the education system and the school is very good she also has a tutor, who is a teacher at the to come at home and privately teach them and she says that they have catched up really quick.
When i was younger my family tried to go and settle in pakistan, Mum and Dad put me in Beacon house and i was never happy. Dont remeber why lol! My little brother and sister are now out there and have been for the past 2 years and they've been put into 'roots'
I must say my brother and sister have excelled so much in their studies out there and my little sister has even been offered a scholarship to uni in cambridge mashallah. Both of them absolutley love their school and have adapted really well!
The school has links with London School of Economics here thats why the kids were sent there. They're also studying according to british curriculum doing IGCSE's.
