KARACHI: The Pakistani government has not retained Ijaz Butt as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and has appointed Zaka Ashraf to replace him.
Ashraf, a senior banker, will take over as PCB chairman with immediate effect, replacing Butt who completed his three-year tenure on Oct. 8, Pakistan’s Presidency said.
Butt’s tenure, which began in 2008, was plagued by controversies including last year’s spot-fixing scandal in England which led to bans on players Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir, and he was also in charge of the PCB when the Sri Lanka team was attacked in Lahore in 2009.
Cricket is a passion in Pakistan with millions of people scrutinising the board’s every move and the national team’s performances.
Butt returned home on Monday from Dubai after attending the executive board meeting of the International Cricket Council.

Seems Butt gone and Chaudhry has arrived

I read somewhere he is corrupted too

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

So here is one more interesting thing:

Ijaz Butt was brother-in-law [Behnoi] of Pakistan's Defence Minister Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar. New Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf is Hum Zulf [Saandu in Punjabi] of Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar.

So once again a relative of Pakistan's Defence Minister is appointed chairman PCB.

Copied from somewhere

Great job … we land from one “professional” to another “professional” :k:](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ZTBL50years.jpg)

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

PCB going from strength to strength - although I hope against hope that this guy does the job well.

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

At least he must be somewhat competent. To be the president of a bank must take some business acumen.
He's also President Zardari's old friend, since they both went to the same school - Cadet College Petaro.

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

so that means NO chance of Afridi:teary1:

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

i was about to do the same thing.
anyways, congrats to all of Pakistan :k:

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

Insha Allah he will back with a bang :jhanda:

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

Isent he the same guy who was accused of squandering bank funds through some scam in Dubai ? Since he's Zardari's friend - he has to be a crook by birth otherwise he would be automatically disqualified from consideration for the position.

Anyway, at least Butt is gone.

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

At least Butt is gone. Let's what this guy can achieve, if anything.

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

This guy is a businessman......he ran industries........so at least he would have ''some'' experience of management ........... and after all.......he is not a ''butt'' (not the caste...but the bodypart that ejaz guy was)

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

I want Afridi back now for SL Series :jhanda:

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

for that you will have to prove to Zaka that Afridi is friend of Pakistan cricket using the poll requested by Nikema :chai:

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

So ur saying that Zaka is on Gs and he will check the results of the poll :cobra:

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

“…involved in corruption, committing irregularities and serious violation of law and indulging in favouritism and discrimination.”

This is the introduction to Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) new chairman Zaka Ashraf, at least according to a petition filed against him in the Supreme Court by a senior officer of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd (ZTBL) of which Ashraf is the serving chairman.

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

I feel like doing this :aejaz:

not that I have great hopes from this guy but Butt’s tenure was the lowest point in cricketing history. The guy was a certified baffoon.

But does it mean no more Ijaz butt jokes by Azizi? :frowning:

Re: Good Riddance: PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt replaced by Zaka Ashraf, a Banker

Perfect candidate under PPP rule :stuck_out_tongue:

RAWALPINDI: Justice Asad Munir of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, has declared the appointment of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) President Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf unlawful while setting aside the August 30 notification of his appointment.

The LHC bench, in its decision, observed that Zaka Ashraf had been unable to show the authority of law under which he held the post of the ZTBL president. The court had taken the decision on August 27 which was released here on Monday…http://www.thenews.com.pk/TodaysPrintDetail.aspx?ID=2222&Cat=2
