I am reading a book (East into Upper East - Plain Tales from New York and New Delhi) by Ruth Jhabvala “by Counterpoint, 98”. Very enjoyable. Same author who wrote Out of India, and Heat and Dust. If you live in big town USA, should be available at your public library.
She's a famous screen play writer. She's
British and married to an Indian. Her full
name is Ruth Prawer Jhabwala. She's an Indologist (interested in India, Indian culture, society etc) who has lived in India for many years and frequently visits India. She teams with famous Indian-british director/producer Ismail Merchant and James Ivory.
Heat and Dust (*ing Shashi Kapoor), Passage to India, Shakespearwallah are some of Merchant Ivory films.
