hareem, i'm guessing that you'll teaching your kids to read in urdu and english at the same time. perhaps your 4-yr old is reading already.. can i ask what urdu books or aid you used for teaching the alphabet? :) and where did you purchase it through?

For the English, we are still working on letter names and sounds though he can read some 3 letter words but I don't want to push him.
I haven't started teaching him Urdu yet as I'm teaching him Arabic alphabets and vowels, I will start teaching him Urdu around the age of 7.
At the moment I just read to him Urdu stories so he can understand and speak this language.
I bought some story books from Ferozsons when I went to Pakistan few years back but the quality of text and paper wasn't brilliant. Now I've found this website Paramount Publishers (see the link above) and through them I'll buy online books by The Book Group inshaAllah.

Thanks for the website Hareem. Right now, my older one is learning Arabic and we plan to teach her urdu once she is good at Arabic, probably 7.

all this discussion shows me that i am not the only one with this concern..
i have started my web site www dot spark a quest dot com
and i am uploading the material i am making to teach my children urdu language.
I am making the material alongside home schooling my 3 year old… so the material will come up rather slowly…
but with all your contributions i think we can make urdu teaching material for our kids just the way we like it..
