Good Pakistani Clothing Shopping Spots--My Insights from this weekend

Hi everyone,

So I wanted to share some stuff with you guys on acquiring Pakistani outfits, particularly if you live in the tristate area.

I went to the ICNA conference in Hartford, CT this weekend and there were a lot of really amazing Pakistani clothing stalls. I ended up buying a few outfits–I feel like I may have overpaid on three of them but all in all, I’m pretty happy with my purchases. I totally was not expecting the ICNA conference to be a shopping extravaganza but it was awesome because there were so many Pakistani vendors all in one area. ICNA is hosted every year, usually around Memorial Day weekend and the Bazaar is free to visit (you don’t have to buy a conference ticket for it, if you don’t want to).

At the ICNA conference, I was recognizing some boutique-type outfits from some stores in Jackson Heights and I asked for some prices–they were way overpriced in my opinion. I confirmed this today by visiting this store in Jackson Heights called

Saawariya

The address is 37-24 74th Street.

The store had three of the same types of outfits I saw at the ICNA conference and they were really, really reasonably priced. The store’s price was $75 (haggled down from $100) while at ICNA, the vendors were charging $180 for them.

So all in all, I would say, check out ICNA if you want to see a bunch of vendors in one place or go to Saarwariya or your other local Pakistani clothing source to make sure the prices are right…
