:
for, verily, those who have attained to faith [in this divine writ], as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Sabians,[SUP]86[/SUP]](Translation comparison for Surah 5. Al-Ma'ida, Ayah 69 | Holy Quran Online | Alim.org) and the Christians - all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds - no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve.
:
Rest assured that the believers (Muslims), the Jews, the Sabians and the Christians - whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteous deeds - will have nothing to fear or to regret.
:
Lo! those who believe, and those who are Jews, and Sabaeans, and Christians whosoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.
he probably trying to say that anyone who believes in God [be he a Jew, a Christian or a Muslim] and believes in the Day of Judgement and does good deeds, has nothing to worry [meaning he will receive salvation and will enter paradise].
if that’s what Monk is trying to say then it’s not true because everyone has to believe in Allah and the last message from him and that MoHammad [saws] is His messenger in order to receive salvation and enter paradise.
well I quted quran.
Second time in 10 days I heard it.
Before it siad(in my words) “among christians there are people who pray at night, ask people to do good, allah wont over look their deeds”
I never knew content of first post and what I mentioned above, ever before.
i don’t agree because the whole Qur’an is about inviting those people of the books to accept Qur’aan, the last revelation in continuation of Tourah N Injeel and books of the past which endorses them.**
in this ayat, Allah talks about the Jews and Christians, before the revelation of Qur’aan, who believed in their scriptures and did good deeds and believed in the Day of Judgement have nothing to fear.**
it has nothing to do with present day Christians and Jews [people of the Books].
that’s the English translation and Allah often uses past tense for future happenings as if it has already happened. you are talking about semantics here.
This verse is from Surah e Baqara. Right? You might be aware that Quran was revealed in speech (khutba) form
If you go through the preceding verses before this particular verse, you will find that its connected and started with invitation to Bani Israel to accept Muhammad as Prophet (and they knew him to be the Prophet like they know about their sons and waiting for him). So, to accept Muhammad (SAW) is implied in these verses.
I would suggest to go through tafseer of this surah by Dr Asrar, as tells very interesting facts about this all speech (over 12-15 rukoo) and it starts with same words and end with same with minor changes like brackets ( ).
Needless to mention that this verse has been used by those who believe in wahdat ul wajood and even by Mughal emperor Akbar while introducing his ‘Deen e Ilahi’. Its was a deen without accepting Prophet.
wa elekum asalam
Its from surah al maidah, there is lot of stuff about ahl-y-kitab, but then also this verse.
Also I think in al imran, its said chritians who pray at nights, do good deeds, tell people to do good, allah wont over look their deeds.
They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer].
[3:114](http://quran.com/3/114)
They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous.
dude, if you ask me, the total impact a surah left on your heart, is not possible to comprehend for person like my self. We rush to get to conclusions. When message is pretty deep. On every thing.
Also how many time allah says, he love justice, he want people to do justice.
He spells out things, which could hinder justice. He love us to forgive.
I have no idea how some one could discriminate then. When allah ties all those matters of justice with telling us we need to be fear full of him.
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (3)
Surah Al maidah
I hope you know this is the starting verse of this surah, but i think we all need to understand the whole quran from each and every ayat
