my mum uses condensed milk and cream in it sometimes, its so yummy! i'll ask her for u

My mum soaks some rice in water for a few hours. The next day, she adds fresh milk, cardamom seeds and rice in a huge pot and cooks for the whole day until it has thickened consistenty and then the rice is really mushy and mixed in the kheer. Add sugar to taste. Take out in dishes and sprinkle with chopped nuts, or silver leaves or both.
A little tip: If you arent sure if your kheer is the right consistency, take a little bit and put it in the freezer for a few mins. Take out and you will see what it will taste/look like after its been cooled down.

Diva, i never tried making kheer with half and half..but my mom ate that somewhere..and she really liked it and asked for the recipe..for 1 litre of half and half you have to put 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of rice..and let it cook until a thick consistency.

Actually, I ended up making it and it turned out real thick and good. Half and half is the way to go !

Here is a simple recipe you can try! :)
Ingredients
1/4th cup Long grain Rice (washed and drained)
4-5 cups Milk
2-3 cardamom seeds (crushed)
2 tbsp. almonds (blanched silvered)
A pinch of saffron threads, soaked in a little hot milk
1 tbsp skinned pistachio nuts (chopped)
1 tbsp raisins (optional)
2-3tbsp. sugar or as desired
Method

Put the rice, milk and cardamom in a pan, bring to boil and simmer gently until the rice is soft and the grains are starting to break up.

Add almonds, pistachio, saffron and raisins and simmer for 3-4 minutes.

Add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved.
*
Remove from heat and serve either warm or chilled

yeah we make meethi sawayaan(sheer khurma) and cultant with half and half milk too.. and yeah it taste reallly awesome.. :k:
