Last night during the Taraweeh prayers (bettween the gap after 4 taraweehs) there was a small talk. Very informative and it sorta gave me a big shock…
Imam quoted a hadeez (i don’t have the exact references right now but if needed i can try to get it from Imam) where Prophet (PBUH) said (to the nearest meaning) that if a person starts an act that is against Islamic teachings even if he has good intentions he will still be committing a sin and responsible for the sins of others who follow that act after him.
I started thinking of so many acts that we do in the name of tradition/religion that are against the teaching or at least are questionable.
I heard the same thing from an aalim when he was explaining the hadith 'all deeds will be judged by the intentions' .. he said that it means 'all good deeds will be judged by the intentions, all bad deeds will be judged by the act itself'.
Logic is very simple and clear. If someone commits zina with the intention of giving birth to more Muslims and increasing the head count of Muslim Umma will he/she be rewarded By Allah(SWT) ? No.
So good intentions are not enough for bad deeds .

There is more to that hadith. We often only hear "Innamal A'aamlo bin niyaat"
There is one more flavour that tells: "innamal A'aamalo bil khawaatim"
that is Actions depends upon their ending.
Mirch's logic is a better way for looking things in context.

well then u can question them that y dont they simply adopt a child to increase the head counts ?
so i doubt anyone who commit voluntary sexual intercourse, will put forward this stupid excuse.
Ansoon...i need to know the authentic reference...y cuz i am an art student...n u get to see load of things for educational purposes. otherwise that Imam is simply saying don't study medicine or biological illustration.
ps. Imam saab is not perfect...so please ask this question on my behalf.
Hazrat Umar (r.a) and few of his colleagues were passing by a place when they came across a priest who used to do "sajdaa" so much in prayers that the flesh on his forhead had reduced alot.
The colleagues saw Hazrat umar (r.a) crying, when they asked the reason he replied (Mafhoom), " When I see such people, I recall the words (hadith or Quranic verse, don't remember exactly) that there are people who think they are on the right path but all their deeds are wasted and they don't even know about it, because they are blindly following the wrong path."
^ This shows that one should do a lot of research for the truth and not just take things for granted.
May Allah guide us all towards the right path. Ameen
I have heard a lot of people saying, " Physical appearance and dressing is not as important when it comes to sunnah, one's heart should be clean"
I want to ask them one question. If a Pakistani Army General comes to office one day wearing Indian Army uniform and says in his emotional speech that he is a true Pakistani by heart, and even tears start flowing from his eyes while saying this.
What would happen ? Court Marshall ? A case of being a traitor ?
Intentions are important, but Sunnah is more important unless it is a matter of life and death, where Islam accept an excuse of not following a Sunnah.

^^ so that means that you will be judged by the results of your action ..
There is more to Khawaatim then meets the eye also.
If my intention in building a mosque is to provide a place of worship for Allah but people make it a place where lot of bickering goes on and people are at each other's throat , now is it my fault or those people are at fault ?
IMHO these are three scenarios:
Your intentions are good and you are doing a good deed irrespective of its end result you will be rewarded.
Your intentions are good and you are doing a good deed but the end result does not turn out to be good , you are not at fault.
Your intentions are good but you are doing a bad deed , the end result turns out to be good you are still at fault.
i didn't go to Isha yesterday to that same mosque so didn't get the chance to get the exact hadith information from him.
BUT he did gave an example of a person before Prophets (PBUH) time.... he was known as a very pious man who wanted to do good for his community .. now his intention was good that he didn't want to harm anyone but one day he got impressed by idolizers and he thought that it was the best religion for his community and he introduced it to them..
so even though his intentions were good, he didn't want to harm people around him but his action lead to a major sin...
One thing commonly overlooked at is that intentions for a muslim should be tied to pleasing Allah SWT and the benefit from it that comes to humanity is secondary. That is the essence of shirk especially minor shirk which is rampant among us today. The actions of a person are noble though the intention differentiates it from worshipping Allah SWT or other entities. So for me doing good for my fellow humans because I love humanity is different from me doing good for humans because I love humanity for the sake of pleasing Allah SWT. The subtle difference can change the best of intentions/actions into shirk. Every action we do is to please Allah SWT and anything that pleases Allah SWT Inshallah! should benefit humanity in His SWT wisdom.
As is goes, we cannot always justify the means to an end. The intention and the permissibility of an action must be coherent for it to be acceptable, even though the ends may not turn out as intended.
