Good boys and girls do not indulge in love.

So what’s up with desi community.
All the dramay on desi TV have some romanticism in them. The desi TV and radio will play very suggestive songs all day long.
Heer Ranjha, Sohni mahinwaal , Laila majnoon are martyrs of love. Majority of folk stories and folklore comprises of love and has element love in it
But desi aunties and uncle think that good boys and girls do not indulge in love kind of fazool thing.
They want to make sure that Their sons and daughters stay romantically celibate till they have completed their education and mom and dad could arrange a rishta for them.
Oh and even those husbands and wives who got married as a result of love want that their kids do not get romantically involved.
Why is it so ?
Is it because they want control over their off-springs ?
Is it because they want a good image in society or brathery , because they lose face once others find out that their son or daughter got romantically involved ?
Is it because they are in denial that all this romance in the air will have no effect on their sons and daughters ?
Any other reason I did not cover and I do not know of ?

In this day and age I see very few desi boys and girls who would abstain from getting romantically involved.

Mind you I am not talking about sexual relationship out of wedlock. That is not kosher in any culture , religion or ethnicity.

People can do whatever they want behind closed doors, we don't care to know what they're up to, problems only arise when they try to rub it on other people's faces or start questioning other people's beliefs.

I'm strictly against pre-marital relationships but I don't go around telling muslim girls they shouldn't be dating/making boyfriends... I couldn't care less even if they wanted to indulge in sex before marriage (that's if they were to get married ever)... I know Allah s.w.t. is watching each n every one of us and we will be responsible for our own actions, so I just try to "live and let live" and expect others to do the same.

The question of "dawah" does arise... if u see something wrong going on, you should raise your voice against it... but does that really work in the present times?? I don't think so!

So the best thing to do is to live ur life the way u want to and let others make their own decisions.

Um, its perfectly okay and even "expected" in non Muslim, non-desi world.

Im just sayin'.

Heer Ranjha? (awww)

Re: Good boys and girls do not indulge in love.

LOL you are explaining the situation in my house right now :/

Yep added that. :)

Re: Good boys and girls do not indulge in love.

I guess in essence what they mean is that dont get into this deleted too early.

When teenagers watch these TV dramas, movies they get distracted and disoriented from their future to some extent. How many bright people/good students we have seen time and time again ruining their career trying to follow DRAMA.

Although I totally agree with you that there should be a better way to deal with it than "nahee yee kharab baat hai"

as far as laila majnoon, heer ranjha, sasee panooo goes, none of them had a happy ending :)

Re: Good boys and girls do not indulge in love.

^ heer ranjha is the best film ever, I love it. But pakistanis like to add 'spice' to life and cause drama. :)

They probly put that on TV, so that the auntys and uncle that are watching might open their mind to it, Never know...

Re: Good boys and girls do not indulge in love.

Actually heer ranjha, they both got to be together in heaven (awwwwwwwwwwwwwww)

'ranjaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa'

I dont think so. I am sure If ranja had made it to heaven, he must have preferred HOORS over heer :D

Re: Good boys and girls do not indulge in love.

^ Dont spoil the film, We both know how much they loved each other, and heer is gorgeous!

That is why they are called mohabbat k shaheed. :)
