I have been wondering for a while now , how do you establish how good a cook are you? 
you cant rely on husbands to tell you, friends can lie just to butter you up… Some of the bigger chefs go to these food challenges and know how good or bad they are … but us common people , how do we find out?
How good are you? how do you know it

My husband tells me straight up that I may be good enough to feed him and myself ut not to charge anyone for. (dawat toh dooor ki baat hai :()

If you say you are a bad cook, everyone else will say that. Even if you don't cook good, don't tell yourself you cook bad. You are good cook, you just need some improvements :)

Mr Halwa will let me know if something is not that great. Usually I can tell too if it doesn't turn out so good. I think family r definitely honest.
Friends are a different matter. Well, I think mostly they will say things r nice or very nice. If they don't like, they can keep quiet.

Khumar , thats actually a brilliant thing to do , I do that as well , always works and wins me the sympathies 
Rupay , even husbands get used to the taste , so much so that they may not be able to differentiate when food is just good or exceptionally good .. no?

I love good food (just the eating part :D) , hate cooking but got used to it. Most of the times I can tell myself how something turned out, otherwise my mother and husband are quite honest..they let me know if something's wrong.

My mom tells me straight on my face if I didn't cook good :(
however , i am always very hard on myself and hardly like anything i cook

my hubby too tells me straight away even infront of guests...:( that this is not cooked well or this desert is less in sweet.

My husband never tells me if the salan isn't cooked well.. he does tareeef no matter how bad it is and hence I never learn to improve.. on the other hand, my mom and my friends are my best critic, anything that they have tasted has improved a lot but other than that I am a pretty bad cook. :-(
