For those people who have read the book “Gone with the wind” by Margaret Mitchell, what is appealing in the Scarlet/Butler relationship? Why girls like Rhet Butler so much?
What message did you get?

Re: Gone with the wind.
Why are you reading that crap?
Re: Gone with the wind.
^That was not an answer.
I read it more than 10 years back.
Re: Gone with the wind.
"Frankly my dear I don't give a damn."
You could pose the same question for Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester.
Re: Gone with the wind.
I could but I did not. Thanks anyways.
Re: Gone with the wind.
Cause he's a gentleman, just like Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. Girls swoon over his character too.
Re: Gone with the wind.
That is an interesting observation but he leaves Scarlet at the end. We also know that he was a murderer, a womanizer, and a criminal. How come this character still manages to leave a very positive impression on so many girls?
Re: Gone with the wind.
To be honest, I've never heard of girls going ga ga over this character. It's always been Mr. Darcy, always. :D
Re: Gone with the wind.
OK. I did meet a number of females who love this character. I used to wonder why.
Re: Gone with the wind.
who knows. Remember ted bundy was also loved by many women and even had a group of female followers known as ted groupies
Re: Gone with the wind.
i think you should read pride and prejudice
Re: Gone with the wind.
or Wuthering Heights. But I think women generally like the 'bad boy'
