It's all personal preference and comfort really.
I for myself don't like to do gold or any sort of closed toe pumps with eastern wear....do like to wear gold/silver/glitter peep/open toe heels with shalwar kameez.

I think metallic shoes have been around for a while. They come out with new styles during prom season and Christmas/New Years but you can always find them.
