Gold or No Gold??

Re: Gold or No Gold??

thats totally up to personal choices. some families just wont allow their daughter/dil to wear imitation and others might think it as a big cut down on the budget

Re: Gold or No Gold??

i havent read all the comments. but farhak you clearly dont have the right knowledge about gold. Its not really the case that if you brought it to the jewellers you would get less money for it, instead you would get MORE, so in this instance it is an asset. I personally have a little bit of gold bangles etc, if im bored of the style of if i see something nicer i tend to trade it in for something else...and cashback too!!

as far as bridal trend is concerned, i dont believe gold is a 'Trend' rather a Tradition.....now there are several arguments for and against it.....but personally i believe there is a certain beauty of wearing real gold tastefully.....

i do feel for those less fortunate and for them their is an alternative available, but if one can Alhamdolillah afford it and most importantly pay the zakat on it, then i think there is no harm to wear it....sure its ONE day to feel special and a lifetime investment all in one :)

Gold or No Gold??

I do hate it when brides(at times through no fault of there own) wear every single piece of gold they own and have ever been given. That looks naff.
Jewellery is supposed to be an ornament and add to the beauty of the bride and not distract from it. Less is more me thinks.

Re: Gold or No Gold??

I'm wearing artificial on both days and they're beautiful pieces! im not really a fan of gold and don't understand when im ever gonna wear a huge set after i get married. I'd prefer to get other things made like earrings/rings/bangles out of gold than a bridal necklace tbh

Re: Gold or No Gold??

I had worn gold jewelry given to me by my late grandmother for my wedding. No way could I have worn anything else! I love gold jewelry because it's more than just ornaments - it's got so many memories and sentiments attached that you can pass on to the next generation.

Re: Gold or No Gold??

I guess it's just a matter of personal preference, but I really do think there's a lot more worthwhile stuff to spend money on rather than spending 4-5 grand on a gold set which most likely won't be worn again! At the end of the day gold is only a type of metal and if people stopped giving it so much priority its value would drop!

^^ LucyMay my centiments exactly :)

Re: Gold or No Gold??

depends on many factors like:

*preference and choice.
*what your mother or mother inlaw wants you to wear.
*what you want.
*your budget.

i feel one should wear a simple gold set..not bhara hua.. buying good artificial sets cost you like 25 thousand or more may be.. and if its matching set..hardly you can wear it again :D..

Re: Gold or No Gold??

Not much gold for me.. just my personal preference..

Re: Gold or No Gold??

its very hard to pull off a full gold look (teeka, earrings, necklace, etc) without looking over the top. I personally don't like real gold teekas for some reason.. i feel like they don't have enough substance to them. These days imitation sets look even better than real gold sets.. you should wear what compliments you and your outfit rather than focusing on showing off to people who are just there to eat your food.

I got married about 4 years ago. I wore bridal gold sets (with beads) on my baraat and walima. After my wedding I wore those sets on my brothers wedding about a year ago. And yeah the both sets are in the locker coz I can't wear them. I think it was better to wear a normal set then a bridal set coz you can wear them more often after the wedding. But NO i would never like to wear artificial jewellery on my wedding.
