Gol guppay

On the topic of imli I was curious as to how people have their gol gappay.

I just have khatta pani as in the imli in mine.

What else does everyone fill theirs with?

Was thinking of having them at a party but not sure how to do them as people have them in different ways

Re: Gol guppay

Boiled chickpeas, meethi chutney.

You can even make chola chaat with all these chutneys and stuff, crushed golgappas over it add a crunch to it. A snack bar like this would be a bit of a hassle but you can prepare these in advance. It will surely be a hit with the guests. Just keep the golgappas separate so it doesn't become soggy and leave the chopped onions/herbs separate as well so it doesn't make the chickpeas watery.

Re: Gol guppay

We often make dahi puri and then add the imli ka paani.
My daugther loves it this way.

Fill gol guppay with:
chickpeas,
boiled, diced potatoes
diced onions
chopped green coriander and mint
stirred yogurt
green chutney
meethi chutney

then dip them to fill imli ka paani just before you pop them in your mouth.

dang....now I want some.

Re: Gol guppay

Aahhh I love gol guppay.

I just like mine with the khata and spicy water and that is it. I don't like have all those chana and other things lol.

But I do sometimes like the whole chaat thing they make with gol gappay which has the imli, yoghurt and etc.

Re: Gol guppay

Sheer genius of an appetizer and prolly my favorite food in Desi cuisine. My favorite part is the meethi red chutney. Don't know what it's made out of but without it, it's incomplete.

Re: Gol guppay

i like them with choley, green chutney, meethi chutney n khatta pani. Now im craving for it

Re: Gol guppay

That’s how I have mine too…:yummy:

Re: Gol guppay

Muzna, do you make gol gappay at home?

Re: Gol guppay

used to…but they are readily available in the marketplace for so little cost that it’s not worth my time at home.
plus the rate at which my family goes through them, masha Allah…I’d be rolling, cutting and frying for hours to make enough…:cb:

Re: Gol guppay

That’s how I feel about pooriyan too :hehe:

Re: Gol guppay

There were no pooriyan in Perth, relocated to Sydney last year you can find it at almost each corner now, specially when we are living in area having abundant desi ppl. Im still hunting for chanany bhatorey however

Re: Gol guppay

Re: Gol guppay

A chaat bar is one of my favorite things to do at a party. Set out all the ingredients separately and let people make it the way that want themselves!

Love them in any way possible... anyone else call them paani ke.pathashay??? Thats what we call them. :)

Re: Gol guppay

yes....we call them that too.
but I thought it was "bathashay"?
