Its same thing.
Indians call it paani puri.. Pakistanis say gol gappay.
Re: Gol Gappe or Pani Puri
Yay^
Same thing basically. Paani puri is more towards a chaat kind of thing, atleast here. In pakistan it is normal snack. I don't know how it is served in other places. Here pani puri is stuffed with nimko and channay and there is imly sauce on the side too etc.
Re: Gol Gappe or Pani Puri
its the same thing... and if u want another term for it... we urdu speakers call them paani ke pathashay :D

GOL GUPPAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From what I've seen, gol guppay involve more ingredients...............whereas pani puri is sometimes just shells filled with imli pani. Or they contain only channay with imli pani. (Haven't seen them with yogurt).
Gol Guppay, on the other hand, include a chana chaat (chanay and aloo)....which you stuff inside the shells......then you pour yogurt on them.......followed by the chutney. Sometimes this sweet red chutney is also poured on top. That's how I've eaten them in Pakistan and that's how we make em at home.
I could be wrong....but this is the difference that I've seen.

Re: Gol Gappe or Pani Puri
yeah its same thing... like i said indians say pani puri and pakistanis say gol gappy. You can make it however you want.. with or without the extra chutneys, with or without chanay.
Bhel puri is a totally different thing. It has papri.. sewe (can't spell), bondis all mix in chutneys. Gol gappay/pani puri consist of big round stuff.. lol.. you poke a hole in it and put whatever you want... chanay.. bondis.. etc and dip it in chutneys.

I've had bhel puri and gol guppay. They're two different things although they both involve same ingredients.
Gol guppay/pani puri are those shells.
Bhel puri doesn't involve shells. It's more like chaat.

I've noticed that those that live in Punjab areas of Pak call them gol guppay. Whereas, people from Karachi refer to them as pani puri. Perhaps because Karachi has a greater Indian influence.

I have never had gol guppay with yoghurt. And I have eaten it in a lot of different places. Also I am not sure why would you eat the shells with just imli pani alone but adding yoghurt with chanay and chatni seems like an interersting idea.
