Walking to school is great. You get your exercise, and according to recent research, it gives you 25% more exercise during the week…
Gas prices are increasing these days, and its not going to get any better, that much is pretty certain.
Riding in cars is getting to be expensive, and also people are now swiching over to carpooling. Depending on the area, some cities you need a car, and some you don’t.
Do you walk/bike to work or to places you need to go? Or do you take a car? Given that the gas crisis is getting worse, do you see yourself switching over to biking/walking?
I can’t possibly walk to the college. I usually get a ride from my parents and when they aren’t available I rely on public transit. :k:
My sister could walk to her school, but then she doesn’t like walking much and it’d take her 20-30 minutes if she walks to her school. So she would have parents driving her to and back from school. If they’re ever unavailable, she’ll have to take the bus.
Oil prices will keep soaring, but there isn’t much that could be done about it. Life goes on. Besides, many of us are so used to the comfort of travelling by car that we won’t even be willing to switch over to public transit merely because it takes much longer to get to place by bus and requires quite a lot of walking too.
For health purposes, I could always rely on the treadmill or walking in the snow, which is quite a lot of workout.
Dude, it taeks me an hour on teh train to get to school, u imagine how long it wud take for me to walk! Besides… i don’t walk to exercise, for that, i go to the gym.. idotn wanna get all sweaty and yucky on my way to school
in TEXAS avg car miles are the highest in #s .. and public transport system's efficency rate is worse then pakistani NEW KHAN service.
besides speeding, drag racing, sprints, over taking, breaking signals are some of the pleasures i enjoy driving my parent's cars. and there is no way i can let their life get any better without having ticket.
I mostly take my bike or I go walking. Sometimes my parents drive us or we take the public transport. But that's rare.
It does make a difference if you walk/bike some place or take a car/public transport. If it's not that far, it really is more healthy to walk/bike. I used to bike half the day to get everywhere a few years ago, everything was far and I lost a lot of weight thanks to that. Nowadays everything is near, walking/biking doesn't make much of a difference anymore.
So having a daily walk starting from about 20 minutes to more truly makes a difference for your health!
I think i'm the only person in LA who walks. I usually take my two daughters out for a walk or to get groceries. I put Maya in the Baby Bjorn and Safia in the stroller and I walk a mile or two. However coming back home is not so easy with a stroller full of groceries because I have to walk uphill. I wouldn't call it exercise so much as torture. My back is killing me right now. But I feel good knowing that I'm not I'm not using a car and wasting gas.
Dope when we were in NY we walked constantly. It was a great way to stay fit. i really miss the Great Lawn in Central Park. And Safia misses Turtle Pond, that was fun.
