Re: Going to Muslim "SINGLE" event...
I have heard another opinion regarding these events. This opinion states that these events are only permissible islamically if they are performed one to one in an halal environment, (which they already usually are). The reason for this is that there can not be two or more persons considering/proposing one person at the same time for marriage. What you are actually doing in such a short amount of time is to compete against the others in your group.
Imagine that you get on a group where a boy is really a good and a fast talker, this guy may consider to proceed with the same girl as you. In this case you are a shy person who also likes the same girl and want to proceed with her. You might not get a chance to talk to her because you are shy and the other person is a very good talker and is able to convince her. In this case, the girl also would like to proceed with this guy because he was a good talker and managed to convince her in this short amount of time.
Lets say the participants still get equal amount of time, the problem is still there if they don't manage to "convince" the potential person. Would you like to "compete" with others in getting to know your potential future partner?
Arranging these events with one-to-one meetings might be much more expensive because it takes a longer time and also requires fewer participants as each meeting will take longer time. I have however never been to such an event but I hope to have shed light on some of the issues. I would for these reasons not attend these events and prefer the traditional one to one way which involves meeting the family with my parents. What do you think.

I think it depends on your personal preference. I went to another one a couple of months ago. I think it was a lot of fun…met some interesting people too.
