Re: Going through customs - Islamabad

my hubby went in march and he was fuming coz he lost his hdd camera bag and the custom or security walay

were of no help at all! he thinks they swiped it :frowning: as it was on the belt infront of the custom walay and they took his suitcase
down and were gonna put to side so hubby went to get that back and the camera bag vanished ( only the custom walay were there)

So he was fuming and told them that he wants it found now and let him check the security cams but they said there is no security vid in
and they didnt even give him a lost form either and he totally forgot about that as he was too mad to think straight!

So if i were you dont let anything out of sight and try to pack everything in the big suitcases and try not not carry anything in hand
goodluck

Re: Going through customs - Islamabad

Re: Going through customs - Islamabad

that is good. i am going to have a couple of phones on me....several years ago when i went, i got hassled due to the cell phones since their machine picked them in the luggage. i think the guys just wanted some bribe but after a bit of an argument they let me go. they pointed me to a sign saying something about the limit of cell phones you can bring in but i think that was perhaps for pak residents only. the interesting thing is that this bag arrived a couple of days later and this happened when i went to pick it up. i was not stopped during arrival when i was with my wife.

anyways, i don't have a problem with paying the correct duty on items through proper channel but unfortunately i don't think that would be an option. this can be frustrating.

Re: Going through customs - Islamabad

I have my cousin in customs at ISLO Airport so never face any problem :sunnyboy:

Re: Going through customs - Islamabad

Agree with keeping an eye on them while they check your stuff! Last time when I was coming back from Karachi, I had put a pair of gold earrings in my purse. When it was passing through the belt, they said they detected something it in and checked it a few times over and over and then finally gave it back to me, saying it must have been my pen. While they were checking one of the others kept talking to me, so I wasnt really paying attention to them as they were searching my bag. No surprise when I got home and was unpacking I realized my earrings were gone! They were worth at least $400 :smack:

Re: Going through customs - Islamabad

ah.... so even customs walay use this trick, i thought it was only Shell people. I never had good experience with customs too though, they are so illiteral greedy and kameene ppl.

Re: Going through customs - Islamabad

laptops, Cams, Ipod or expensive cell phones are alright and you can easily carry more than one. Speaking particulary about cellphones as you have mentioned, upto 3 or 4 should be ok as long as those are not box packed. Trouble is serious if you are planing to bring-in LCD or LED TV.

I mostly travel with one hand luggage only and land ISB 5 to 6 six times each year, never been stopped by customs for my luggage inspection and on a few occasions when guys at Karachi Airport wanted me to put my bag through the scanner, my response to them was "Agar isi mein say sab ka saman guzarna hay to phir Green Channel kio banaya hoa hay"
