How many of you have been on the receiving end of the stick? And how many have been the propagators?
What is the best way to deal with a joke taken too far, by either the joker or the joked :P?
and on a separate note, how “game” do you consider yourself? Some people believe that if they dish it out, its alright cos they can take it too. Do you subscribe to this theory? Or do you believe that dishing it out is okay, but it’s a whole other ballgame if you are the butt of a joke?
Re: Going overboard with a joke
There is a difference between someone who is genuinely funny which reflects true wit and a well developed sense of humour and someone who is having fun at someone else's expense. Nobody enjoys being the only one not "in" on the joke or being the butt of someone else's joke. I also think exercising judgement about one's jokes is necessary - there is a such thing as going too far. General rule of thumb, how would I feel if the tables were turned and does the other person have the same quirky/crazy sense of humour as me.
Re: Going overboard with a joke
I hate it when a joke goes too far! Someone we know told his in laws in pakistan that him and his wife (who hadn't been to pakistan for 7 years) were coming to pak. They started preparing for the return of their daughter and grandchildren...relatives wh lived far travelled all the way to greet her when she came. The guy even told them a flight number and they all turned up at the airport BUT it was all a 'joke'....funny right....? hmmm...That is too far!
the above should be slapped lol!

Ignore. You know what they say 'Don't give your pearls to the pigs'.
