Going makeup free

In An Image-Obsessed World, This Student Is Going Makeup-Free For An Entire Year

would you do something like this?

I only wear makeup on special occasions anyways, mostly because I’m too lazy to do much more than put on my moisturizer and sunscreen but I know people who won’t leave the house without makeup on. And a lot of these girls are stunning naturally. Does going out without makeup make you feel uncomfortable?

Re: Going makeup free

No way a full year.. One month maybe but even then it would feel awkward for me personally to go out for an evening with a totally bare face..

To me wearing makeup is like doing my hair.. It doesn't take me long either.. Under 10 mins on a 'normal' day so it's not much hassle..

I rarely wear makeup. =/ Sometimes i don't even wear sunscreen.

I wish i wore it more often. It just takes me too long.

Re: Going makeup free

My mum ended up with quite bad age spots and pigmentation around her eyes.. That's scared me into wearing sunscreen regularly now..

Re: Going makeup free

I wear light makeup on special occasions.

Re: Going makeup free

I don't like wearing makeup. I want my skin to breath. I only wear sun screen when I'm going out.

Re: Going makeup free

The only time I ever did put foundation on was on a friends birthday that too I wiped off when we took the pictures from her prof cam. I always have a bare face even when I do put concealer, I feel like I've made soo much effort lol can't stand makeup and all my friends wear a ton though they look better and younger without it.

Re: Going makeup free

See makeup makes me feel great about myself. I need to look my best for my own self and makeup is one of the tools that enables me to do so. It allows me to enhance the features on my face that I love and possibly conceal the parts of my face that I'm still working on to clear up. I don't understand their point of going bare on the face. Makeup does no harm, it enhances, it makes a woman feel good about herself.

Re: Going makeup free

make up is for ugly peoples so more power to that chick.

Re: Going makeup free

Takes me about 7 mins, I don't see the big deal

lets stop washing our faces for a year too

Re: Going makeup free

When people say makeup, do they really only mean concealor/foundation etc? Aka "letting the skin breathe" etc?

I wear foundation like 4-6 x a year.....but at the bare minimum I put eyeliner in my eyes (kajal or pencil etc)...canm't go wtihout that for a year

Re: Going makeup free

I don't think she's doing it because makeup takes too much time, seems more of a confidence boosting exercise because obviously she feels insecure without makeup. Personally I think she looks beautiful without makeup, I'm sure makeup enhances her beauty but thats not necessarily something she has to do on a daily basis to feel good about herself.

Re: Going makeup free

i know a guy who wears makeup and his gf (my friend) didn't know until it was raining outside. So its not just girls or ugly ones for that matter.

Makeup is fine as long as you don't overdo it.

Re: Going makeup free

i want to put lots of makeup everyday :bummer: but still i can’t

Re: Going makeup free

I've no problem with leaving the house without makeup to run errands, or the only thing I'll apply in terms of "make up" is a tinted lip balm. It's okay if the world sees me with a few blemishes.

Re: Going makeup free

Bring it on, I am make up free all the time. Only in functions (which are what, about 2-3times a year maybe) I use tinted moisturiser, eyeliner and lipstick/gloss.

Even putting on this thick sunscreen makes me feel my skin is not breathing :bummer:

Re: Going makeup free

wow you guys must never get a little dark under the eyes. Foundation during the summer is not possible because I need the sunscreen on everyday to protect my skin but concealer is needed for under the eyes for me and eyeliner, mascara and nude lip color because I like defining my lips for work. It doesn't take long.

I remember talking to a dermatologist about them and he said that south asians tend to get hereditary dark circles more than the white people and those girls that are going makeup free are mostly all white.

If you all have the secret to having no dark circles at all please let me know!!

My eyes look so different with liner and mascara than without so I still want people to recognize me during eids and special occasions. I personally like to look the same on special occasions as I do everyday with the only difference being the formal clothing. I'm still on the lookout for a foundation that's right for my skin so I don't wear that everyday.

Re: Going makeup free

^Exactly!!!

I'm not sure where the author of the article got this idea that women spend hours on end putting on makeup everyday. Most people I know, it takes them 15 minutes or less from start to finish. Storm in a teacup.

Re: Going makeup free

I'm not as grossed out by eyeliner and lip color as I am with foundation and concealer. They feel more like paint to me and they cover a larger area of the face. And I hate having to scrub it off. Eyeliner and lip stick contain chemicals too, but the idea of those chemicals sitting atop and seeping into the pores of my skin each day (if I were to put foundation on daily) makes me feel uneasy. I totally agree and understand that makeup can make you feel confident because it enhances your best features, but I also understand that it feels liberating to go without it or very little of it.

Re: Going makeup free

I have the circles and my skintone is a little uneven as well.. I use sunscreen under foundation with no problems at all..
