Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
Hey aisha,
what exactly are u studying?
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
MBA
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
^^ Well then.....just so you know, MBA from USA is very very expensive.
I plan to do my MBA next year....I am thinking of doing it either from Canada, Australia or Europe.
Europe is ranked 2nd after USA in terms of the quality of MBA.
I suggest you highly consider Europe for an MBA than USA if cost might be an issue for you.
I love USA as people are very friendly and nice and there are lots more job opportunities and chances to intern at major companies but the problem is the cost.
But if you are loaded, then go for USA. :)
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
Northwestern university is one of the top universities in US and has great MBA programs. It also has a beautiful campus. There are plentyyy of desis in Chicago so you'll feel right at home. A lot of guppies as well! ;-) The only issue can be money, I'm assuming your parents will be supporting you otherwise, in this economy it will be hard for you to find a job here.
Chicago isn't as expensive as some other cities in US such as New York and LA, etc. You might also hate the weather, here there is no concept of studying outside in the winter unless you want to die from cold!
PM me if you need any other info about chitown!
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
aisha what is your concentration at Kellogg, I know a bunch of profs there and can give you some pointers :)

hey, isn't australia expensive as well? My BIL is doing his master's in a small city in South Australia and he thinks it is too expensive and jobs are very hard to find there as well.
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
^^ i am not gonna look for a job there...I have canadian and american nationalities....
I just wanna do an MBA from a good school and it shouldn't cost me that much....
Europe is ranked 2nd after USA and there lots of american companies in which I could intern with to get international and american experience....
australia i liked due to the weather but thats it.... :)

Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
I just checked the tuition fees, it is 47,000 dollars for MBA I think if the website says it correctly. That is far less than what it costs me here in AUD to get a bachelors degree.
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
^^ really damn...didnt know australia was that expensive....
I did my bachelor in software engineering in canada...and it cost me 36,000 canadian to do it...4 year program...it was like 9g per year
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
I live in Dubai LOL. Not Australia.
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
The quality of education in Australia really sucks so if you're going there just coz the weather is good then it doesn't make any sense. UK is a good choice if you can afford to study there.
Re: Going abroad to UK or USA
CA for me studying in UK would be cheaper than USA as I am a British National and British National fees would apply for me in UK universities and not International Student fees.
aisha
i am nto sure if the rules have changed or not but a few years ago if you were a british citizen who had not been resident in UK for 3 years prior to enrolling, you had to pay international fees, that 3 year residency was required to be eligible for home student status and fees,

i think some residency rwequirements may apply to you coz u've been away for i dunno how long. we have 12 monthe residency requirement to qualify for subsidized fee structure.
btw, canada is much cheaper than UK or the US. may be u consider this option as well :)**
