Gohar Ayoub: Nawaz wanted to arrest CJ Sajjad Ali Shah

Re: Gohar Ayoub: Nawaz wanted to arrest CJ Sajjad Ali Shah

^^ Your bhutto himself was part of that same mentality of the yahya establishment so, in the end, “people who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others”. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t i think i need to remind the history buffs about what bhutto said he would do to people who went and talked to mujib in E. Pakistan, now do I? :faizy:

Flame, yeah this Javed Iqbal book is translated from his memoirs originally in Urdu published few years ago, haven't read it, but last week I went to buy 'Encounters...' at OUP here and they were out of stock, got to check if its back.
This should also be very worth reading.

Yup Beta.

Re: Gohar Ayoub: Nawaz wanted to arrest CJ Sajjad Ali Shah

Yup Zakk, I'm quite interested in learning his version of those events in 64 too, but he may have evaded the topic or may have taken a well planned circle around to beat about the bush and absolve self of all blame. Lets see what we find.

Re: Gohar Ayoub: Nawaz wanted to arrest CJ Sajjad Ali Shah

Interesting logic, by extension you imply that Mush is guilty of being corrupt by viture of his association with “corrupt politicians”? He did after all serve under BB and Nawaz, and if you read his book he didn’t mind the Supreme Court getting stormed either :halo:

Re: Gohar Ayoub: Nawaz wanted to arrest CJ Sajjad Ali Shah

The problem is that Bhutto was part of the problem himself than a solution. His statement "idhr hum, udhr tum" didn't bode well as politicians from nwfp, balochistan and even sindh were ready to go and meet mujib for a political solution. What does musharraf have to do with supreme court storming by nawaz?

Re: Gohar Ayoub: Nawaz wanted to arrest CJ Sajjad Ali Shah

There is an old answer used when people blame Bhutto for everything that happened in 1971..it goes like this "how many divisions did general bhutto command"? the answer is none.

Military dictators rule with absolute power and ergo absolute power= absolute responsibility. The politicians from NWFP, Balochistan and some from Punjab and Sind were not afraid of Bhutto and many were willing to join Mujib in an alliance. Yahyas decision to crackdown and kill people in East Pakistan was his own. Bhutto may not have helped the situation but thats a far cry from being responsible.

The argument that politicians were responsible for all the corruption of the 90's is the same as me saying that the army is solely responsible for the loss of East Pakistan and our humiliation in war.

P.s: One of the key reasons why Nawaz appointed Mush as COAS was because Mush opposed Jehangir Karamat getting involved to stop the SC storming.

Exactly.
