God didn't make man; man made gods

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

Faith trumps logic. Best. Ot to get into a discussion of which religion is more logical. None are.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

Logic evolves and progresses as new information/realities are discovered. However based on the common knowledge we have we can make series of logical arguments beginning with the acknowledgement of their being a Creator, His attributes, the point in creating man, the need for man receiving guidance to know that point given him intrinsically tuned towards probing and progressing, the sending of messengers to accomplish that, the sending of a continuous succession to protect that message, and how Islam fits all of those criteria. I think it is natural to question and discuss specially if a question is as important as this, i.e. about the purpose of life and creation.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

By the way, there are some excellent discourses on this subject by the scholars of earliest time in Islam such as Imams of Ahlul Bayt (grandchildren of the Prophet of Islam).

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

Fact says man made gods, faith says gods made man.

Most of the religions have this ongoing debate which will never end. But a lot of times the so called people of faith act in a manner that i wish we all were atheists.

my last words on this topic.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

Sure- if the topic was which belief system is better. Else it unnecessarily opens axcan of worms. I personally draw the line at that stage - and don't get into arguments of which religion is illogical and which is logical. More power to those who have all the answers.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

Study religious texts and history (including Quran and Islamic history), or just look around today, cause of grievance will mostly fall on the what you termed the 'so called people of faith'.

Re: God didn’t make man; man made gods

you posted a 2 page argument based on assumptions on why people needed a god and your answer to their is no god is hey everybody one day we will find out who created the universe hopefully in the future sometime i cant tell you when just trust me!!!

you just made another religion an atheistic one which you want people to follow based on more assumptions and no facts.

God didn't make man; man made gods

^ exactly. He wants us to deny God based on the fact that science may or may not prove it in the future!!!

Now Thats a tall claim, considering science has trouble proving aliens existence at the moment, God is definitely beyond their capabilities.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

That is not true ... There are domains in belief which are plausible, but impossible to know, but there are other beliefs that are implausible ... I agree demonstrable fact is better than a claim, but you should also be fair and admit that between two claims where one is plausible it is better than the absurd or contradictory claims.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

If I recall I made the above comment when one religion was compared with another. I just don't prefer to enter such debates. In my opinion religion is all about faith. You may disagree.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

Peace Southie

That is fine, my angle was merely based on how Islam came to us ... It came to us whilst addressing the Jews, Christians and Pagans ... The Qur'an presents many arguments by comparing the Islamic faith against those other religions.

Re: God didn't make man; man made gods

How would u prove ur claim is better from someone elses ? Your ideals may be coloured by your religious affiliations and cultural upbringing. It is the same for your opponent. How can you state your claim to be more plausible without backing it up with proof and hard fact. At the end of the day, it is what it is...plain faith. Doesn't mean you are right and some one else is wrong. May be somebody else is right and you are wrong. We go by the premise that there is one and only one God. How do you go about proving it ? No body has seen God in the presence of multiple witnesses whether it is one God or many Gods. All religions -polytheistic, monotheistic and those in between have their own proof , miracles and belief systems to support them. Since God/Gods have not openly said that there is only one or there are many, what gives us the right to assume that our beliefs is right and others are wrong ? Many people mock polytheistic religions and say the idols do not reply. But when was the last time the "one true God" made his presence shown ? There was no reaction from Gods when the idols were broken and zilch from God when people kill in the name of the "one true God". All we have are prophets for the monotheistic religions and Avatars for pantheist religions each proving that their belief systems are correct.
In light of all these what gives anyone the right to claim his faith/belief is superior and better over anybody else s?
