Re: God Bless

Since when do atheists deserve respect?

Re: God Bless

whoa Sara - atheists deserve respect because they are people, you do not have to interact with them if you wish not to, but respect is something that all deserve unless they prove by deed or by something they say they don't deserve it. Personal belief is not a reason to withhold respect.

Re: God Bless

SarahSplendor, its funny how people tend to be so concerned about those, who are the most unjust people in the society.

Height of ignorance, if you ask me.

Re: God Bless

Errr okay I meant....

Why do they deserve respect for their "set of beliefs"? I don't mean to go kill them or treat them like dirt but I do not view "atheism" as a set of beliefs, therefore, I would not care about saying God bless to spare their feelings. To put it this way: I do not respect their lack of any belief.

Re: God Bless

What could be worse than refusing the existance of God?

Its not a personal belief by any means. Its a serious issue, especially when they start preaching the wrong stuff and start corrupting the society. Look back at the the 20th Century and see for yourself, from Lenin to Satanism, all the evil that rose out of athiesm.

Re: God Bless

Sharaabi - evil also rose out of extreme belief also - look to the crusades and to the muslim conquest of Spain and Bengal.

No one system has a monopoly on evil or extremism. Respect is something that God wishes us to give to his creation whether or not they believe in him (he believes in them :) ).

You do not have to like or even befriend someone who does not believe the same as you, but basic respect should be given all people until they do something not deserving it. Just being an atheist is not a good enough reason.

Re: God Bless

My initial statement was in response to SarahSplendor saying, she preferred saying "Bless Be", so as not to be rude to them. My argument was, why do we need to comprimise on our practices, solely to be hospitable and kind to those who have diverted away from the Truth. (That is if you do believe that God is The Truth)

It is true extremism on any path does gives rise to evil. But Athiesm is a form of extremism. To be so far away from the Truth as to totally negate it, is a form of extremism.

Not trying to hate on any athiests here, just shedding some light on their belief.

Re: God Bless

^ Well I dont think atheists are extremists, but they are just as dogmatic as the people they criticise.

Believers can be dogmatic, and atheists can be dogmatic. You dont have to believe in God to be forcing your beliefs and practices on others.
