How many of you actually consciously set yourselves goals like :
*** “Im gonna achieve x- thing in y- time ?”***
A friend of mine is a great believer in setting short and long term goals and has loads of diaries that she keeps detailed memos to self about setting targets.
***I think it is an excellent idea and occasionally do it however for me its more a subconscious thing where i’ll decide in my mind …here is what I wanna do in this time-span… ***
Several times I have tried maintaining a diary or writing down my goals however , I eventually slack !
How many of you do set yourselves’ goals and how and by when to achieve those ? And those that don’t is it because they lack the ambition to plan for the future or are they right in thinking only about the present as no-one can forsee the future ???
I am not a great believer of long term planning. Plus if I start planning too much than I realized that I waste most of my time on planning than actually doing it. Usually small and short term goals work for me and plus ‘chooti chooti kushiyaan’
Btw sometimes no planning AT ALL turns out to be more fun
I can never be organised enough to write my goals down with dates and stuff. The only time I do stuff like that is when I realllyy need to get a move on with a whole lot of things and then I write To-Do lists
Long term planning is something I do in my head.. like where I want to see myself in 5 years etc etc.. it helps because it keeps me going in the present..
i think for long term and even short term planning, you need a lot of discipline to commit yourself to achieving set goals, unfortunately im not very disciplined, im a procastinator:(!
I sorta have to plan since I'm a student, so everyday I have to write a to-do list otherwise nothing will get done and I'll just end up watching reruns of scrubs. However, strict long term goals are definately not for me!
but don’t u think those to-do lists really get things done ?
Think about it thisway…a few years down the line u’ll wish u’d done something u could have a lot earlier that u just din’t set out to because u did not actively pursue it consciously…
long term can be as far as a few weeks or months , it doesn’t have to be 5 yrs downthe road…
I set both long term and short term goals. Short term goals are more like milestones for achieving long term goals. It also helps in personal development and serve as a guage to determine if long term goals are realistic or not. If I can't organise myself or bring myself to a certain level to successfully finish a task within certain time period then most probably I am not good enough for achieving my long term goals.
You know some time your struggle is not as planed Specially if you walking a path less traveled.
Some time you just got to go for, what you luv. U know our brain has more ability then just rational thinking.
Once some one said "I know a person's smartness level by their junoon" you know passion finds way to get closer to what you desire.
Some time your goals are not even realistic(to other ppl), but once you set eyes on some thing and keep doing every day life... your brain keep collecting information from your surrounding on some level...With out you knowing.
Its very much like when God said "you get what you desire for"
Very true.
While working on some thing unconventional ...some time only way to measure success/progress is to count you failures.
More failed attempts you have ..closer you are.
but don't u think those to-do lists really get things done ?

i know i know! but despite being aware of this, im still pretty lazy i guess, in trying to achieve goals. im not good a self motivating myself. however, if i have some sort of deadline in which to do things, then i can achieve goals. and ive noticed once i start something, i can really get into the flow of doing it, but at the same time i have a bad habit of not finishing it lol.
