2 Muslim kids found dead in Gujarat

New Delhi, May 18: The bodies of two Muslim children were recovered from the car of a local VHP leader of Dabhoi town, near Baroda, with injuries marks on Thursday afternoon, resulting in tension in Baroda district. The two children, aged five and seven, were found from the car of Dr Jagdish Pankhi, who is a doctor. Dr Pankhi himself informed the police about the bodies of the two children in his car. Baroda Range IG Rakesh Asthana said, “The children were found with injury marks on their bodies but it is only after a post-mortem that we can know the cause of death. We estimate that the children may have been dead for over 24 hours but again forensics will be able to give more specific details.” He said the police is investigating the matter and that the car belonging to Dr Pankhi was being used though the doctor reportedly said that the car was not in use for over two years. Mr Asthana said that although there was tension owing to the recent violence in Baroda, there was no untoward incident and the situation was calm. However, there were some reports of stone-pelting in the area and also at Dr Pankhi’s house in Dabhoi after news of the children’s death spread. The two children’s names were Taher Hussain, 5, and Salman Sheikh, 7. Sources in Baroda said that the bodies of the children were cut up. Locals feel that either the children were victims of a tantrik or they became victims of an organ transplant racket. A complaint regarding the disappearance of two children was lodged with the police two days ago. An official said both the bodies have been identified as those of the missing children. Baroda town had recently been rocked by communal violence, which claimed six lives, following the city civic authorities’ demolition of a 200-year-old dargah.
