Go to India for a short term course?

Has anyone here, being a Pakistani passport holder and non-residence of Pakistan, went to India for a short term course i.e 1-2 weeks or knows anyone who has? If so, what was your or people you know experience was like?

I know it must be really tough even to get a visa in current political situation but would really much like to know your views/experiences.

Do not go to India

Just `feel' India :)

Re: Go to India for a short term course?

If you can get the college to sponsor you, then you may have a chance. I would phone the college concerned, and find out if they will support your application. If they show no interest or are look warm, then forget it.

All go online to the Indian High commission website, to get further info.

Re: Go to India for a short term course?

@Arleitter - we have been feeling India for all this time :- )

@Khan15- the institute is willing to give me a letter for Visa.

Btw, is it true that Pakistanis who go to India have to report everyday to nearest police station?

Re: Go to India for a short term course?

:nahi: not true

Re: Go to India for a short term course?

don't know about every day, but in some cases weekly or monthly reports are required... not sure what the requirement for student visas is though.

Required…If you are on a visit VISA

I do not think it will be easy for the OP to get a student VISA these days…

Re: Go to India for a short term course?

You may not get a visa. See if you can do the course elsewhere.

Re: Go to India for a short term course?

My company was trying to sent me for a course in India some 2-3 years back . They are really strict and rigid. Either they don't entertain your requests or delay the matter. One of my co-worker at top management got enrolled but his visa was delayed till the last day hence he couldn't go. I also know someone who got visa and had a good time over there. But its not easy. They have visa restriction for a city only meaning u don't get visa for whole of India it's just for a particular city.

This is same in Pakistan also.I have been to Pakistan as part of my company's business trip but only specific cities were handed over.

This was the same case in 2004 when I travelled to Lahore(as my former organization was one of the promoters of the first India-Pak series after a long years of gap),just for a day ,and we were specially instructed not to travel out of Lahore.
