go back to pakistan

it was a dream. Meaning it isn’t now. :konfused:

Are you seriously considering going back or is it just maybe I will, maybe I won’t type of thinking.

:frowning:

why do something in life you won’t enjoy. I will most probably end up with a business degree. But Don’t step on my dream like that. Entertainment bug has really got a hold of me. I don’t think I can do anything else.

Nope I wanna live somewhere compltely different.

to both the UK and Pakistan

Okay, this is for the young ones in this forum. I am currently thinking about going back to pakistan after I finish my studies. I know I can get a job there for sure. So I am wondering, those pakis living abroad, are you guys planning to go to pak for good at any time in the future.

I don't have any problem with america. But your own land is your own land. I am not the one who gets flustered by heat, poverty, pollution etc etc etc that I know I might face when I go to pak. I am not one of those "nazook" desi. Is there anyone else in this forum that has the same line of thinking as I do.

Dear, i admire your patriotism and strongly support your decision. I am in this country for almost 10 yrs and inshallah i am planning to go back by next year to join my father's business. Dont listen to losers who sometimes have spent thier whole life there but now they have problem with pakistan.

Plus think from a different angle. This country is not yours. No matter what you do, the fact of the matter is that these are not your people. So whichever profession you will chose to adopt, what would be your overall contribution? I mean USA is already a well established country with lots of talented people to work her.

From humanitarian standpoint, these people are not in dire need of you.

what is point of strengthening those people who are not yours and who are already strong enuf?

You will make good money for yourself and that is about it. What will be your level of satisfaction after 30 years?

you spent your whole life serving for those who are not your own people plus they never needed you anyway..what a petty life.....

if you are a smart and talented guy, dont you feel that you should do something which will make your life purposeful.

And what else can make you more happy than serving your own motherland where your own people are in dire need of your contributions.

I have learnt one lesson in life. In countries like pakistan, dont think what your country will give you. Just think what you can give back to your country. And there is no need to be over ambitious......At the end of the day, besides your profession, if you were able to open a school for blind people or set up a chain of schools in villages for girls, you would be so happy.....

having said i would also like to point out that from stretegic standpoint, we do need to have a strong group of well educated pakistanis in super power USA to counter balance strong presence of indians here. But if some one like you plans to go back, he should not hesitate....inshallah Allah will help you.

i’m going back to my roots inshallah, spent the best part of 8 years of my life in azad kashmir and i miss it badly everyday, i’m going when things here r sorted.

but no permanent base, will be travelling and moving about don’t know if i’ll be able to settle back home again after a dry patch hmm :bummer: things r different now so much has changed…

yeah true dat

plus my dad once said something abt pakistanis being successful in a foreign country

"jungle mein moR nacha kis ne dekha"

if u r successfull in pakistan, u r part of a community and ur rishtaydaars r here, ppl from ur village maybe, they recognise u and know u and they respect u for whatever u have done

abroad u might be part of a small community but its like u're jus in limbo and not part of the system so even if u do something amazing it doesnt feel like a big achievement coz no body who really matters is there to pat u on ur back

You’re just a freshmen???

Ur younger than me???

irem, if you don't mind my asking. What kind of job do you do over there.

And you are so right. I feel like a outcast over here. Its a great feeling when you walk down a street, everyone is just like you. They have the same skin color, speak the same language, dress just like you, act just like you. Here, sighs It's frustrating to always feel "different."

awwww pooor baby...

i'm guessing ur in Georgia...get outta GA and come to NYC...brooklyn, queens, manhattan...nuttin but desi round here :)

No one wants to leave their country and live elsewhere. It’s not natural..people want to live in a habitat that is familiar to them. So why do people move is the question?

there are those who thirst for new surroundings and stuff, they get sick of the same old environment. but the majority of us move because we have to...work, school, etc.

How many desies in Bronx and Jackson heights do you think had thirst for new surroundings? Pakistan just didn't do it for them eh?

I meant that I used to fight the whole being a paki grl a lot. I guess u cud call me a former ABCD. I wasn't allowed to do a lot of things that regular girls did, like hanging out with friends or going to parties and stuff...not boyfriends or slumber parties or going to clubs, i wasn't that crazy lol, but just lil things. It was like...why is my bro allowed to do this and that, but i'm not , ya kno?? and it was hard, believe me...i wud never put my daughter through that BS...i mean ill still get annoyed when my mom yells at me for coming home at 7 PM but it's far better than before.

In the last year or so i've made a lot of desi friends (met a lot of beeyotchez too but that's another story ) and just became proud of my culture and religion. I appreciated my parents a lot more than I did in hs.

Ok, I understand now, thanx for explaining! Sounds like it took a lot of strength to get your parents 2 see your way and 2 strike a balance... congratulations!

Well, it's more the other way around. I saw things their way and while I still might not agree with certain things, I understand their perspective and where they're coming from. But thanks for understanding :)
