**G is for growth
**Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn’t mean you should have to worry about it. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we’re giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more space as we are able. We know that email will only become more important in people’s lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our users and their needs. From Gmail, you can expect more.
say over a year or so one accumulates 1gb of email (attachments etc), is possible to backup all that in out loal drive or does it have to be left in Google forever?
They did it, presumably, bcz Yahoo announced their email to be expanded to 1 GB as well, and ofcourse, Google wants to be one step ahead. Lets see when garam mail wakes up.
By the way, how many of you trust that Gmail will keep providing POP indefinitely? After our glorious experiences with bait-and-switch, I am not trusting any of these mufta email services no more…
