Glycolic Acid Peels..Anyone Try it?

I heard so much about glycolic acid peels, I was on Amazon, and I saw this amazing review for a glycolic acid peel that got 4 stars for it, and the reviews are incredible…I wanna try it…its supposed to be amazing in getting rid of dead skin, acne scars, etc.

Anyone try glycolic acid peels? Should I try it? Reviews/comments please!

There was a huge thread on this topic few months ago. Search for it.

Re: Glycolic Acid Peels..Anyone Try it?

Some people love them, others find they're not strong enough.. I had a glycolic peel and all it did was itch like crazy.. apart from that nothing happened.

Much prefer TCA peels but they can be too harsh for some people and with stronger TCA peels there's quite a bit of downtime when ur peeling and u need to stay indoors cos u look like a burns victim. In terms of effectiveness tho nothing beats them imo..

Btw there are also lactic acid peels which are gentler but apparently also v.effective and for those who aren't pale-skinned these are safer to use..

Re: Glycolic Acid Peels..Anyone Try it?

I love peels period. Glycolics are basically glorified exfoliators. So unless they're strong...its better to go with TCA.

LURRVE peels. If you are a peel -virgin, get it done professionally first and stick to a milder peel like lactic acid. For at home peels, I only recommend Lactic or Salicylic Acid peels since these self neutralize after 7 minutes and you won't end up frying your skin if you don't wash them off completely.
I peeled my arms and hands a week back and my skin is flaking and peeling like crazy. but it's so worth it....

what does peels do? is there any which lighten the skin tone?

Re: Glycolic Acid Peels..Anyone Try it?

what is a TCA peel? do you have to get it done from a dermatologist?

I got a few glycolic peels done once, and it makes your skin better, but I wouldnt say there is a tremendous difference, just a slight difference.

Re: Glycolic Acid Peels..Anyone Try it?

If you are allergic to peels (since they have such a high level of acid)...a much gentler option is to use Glytone lotion ($30 USD). It's a glycolic acid lotion but make sure to use the one for face...or you can buy the one for body and exfoliate your arms/legs. (works wonders on scars!!!) :)
