ive never been a big fan of glosses, lipsticks or lip colours.. but lately ive been going thru this massive changeover and have started to wear the odd “female neccessity”

i dunno about glosses, i don't wear those much... i do something else in terms of gloss. But in terms of lipstick - for tanned complexions, go for those (this is going to sound gross, but bear with me) "raisin"-like shades, more along the lines of plum/berry/java etc. um i dunno if you know what i mean...or if they're available in Aussie. But they're a bit more darker... believe me, pink lipstick does NOT look good on tanned complexions (as i have seen many desi females wear). Pink and lighter shades tend to look better on lighter complexions... not trying to be mean or racist, i mean it's a 'fact'.
Plums/berries/javas - i like these on tanned complexions. i think they look better... Just my opinion, i could be wrong.
Colour Quench Lip Balm (juicy tube) by Clarins. It's the only lip gloss I like.
For lipsticks, MAC. If it is good enough for Yasmin Lebon, it's good enough for brown people!
I'm with Nadia on the pink lipstick. I've tried pink, mauve, etc. and it just looks ridiculous on me. Fair girls can wear it and guys should think about that when they recommend that girls wear pink lip gloss! :D
Metallic colours also don't suit me. I've tried the natural copper browns (matt, glossy and metallic) and it just looks horrible. What a waste of money!
hey Nadz.. i know what u mean :) those are the colours ive been experimenting with in the past few weeks.. ive been wearing this one lipsticl by YSL.. its like deep red.. like the colour of a brides dress (umm that doesnt explain much)
hey Mehnaz, i know the metallic stuff.. it looks utterly gross on me!
ooh MAC has nice colours. I need to shop!
Thank goodnes Nadz.. i had a haertattack when both u said pink is gross hahaha... normal pink colours dont suit me.. its the peachy colours that are ok... Clinque had this awesome nude/pink colour.. that was nice
If you have olive skin than you can wear pink, as long as it has a blue shade to it. The best bet for picking out the right pink is to ask for help at the mall at the make up counters.
the girls at those makeup counters ALWAYS put pink or mauve on me and it looks horrendous... firstly just cus im tanned, they pull out their darkest foundation (except MAC) and then apply the ugliest lip colour they can find..
i like MAC cus they specialise in olive-dark skins..
The Body Shop has nice foundations for tanned skin. Except, yeah, like you said, they ALWAYS give darker colours EVERYWHERE for powder foundation. I’ve been sold two now, one from the Body Shop and one Cover Girl one that is like two shades darker than I am and you can so tell that it ain’t my skin colour. Most girls put the wrong colour foundation on to be fair whereas in my case, I end up darker.
thats like me… i put my foundation on today (cus i wanted to be pretty for work ) and i look sunburnt.. but it does give a real nice glow, so i dont mind it toooo much
however, Elizabeth Arden always give me the darkest shade possible and it ticks me off.. i just want to look natural!
I saw this thread here and I thought, whoah, recipes for gloss and lipsticks?
MAC has great lip colours, I think even their pinks look good on tanned skin, I am hooked on viva glam. Their gloss is too sticky. I love lancome’s juicy tubes, they smell divine..and stay put.
