Sir, I do know about the Islamic jurisprudence about inheritance but this is a secular society and laws here are secular too. Here the society will look after children and elders also so family does not have the same burden of responsibility. Furthermore I know of countless cases in Pak where family members stole the share of inheritance from each other and there is generational feuds about property so the lack of empathy more applies to stealing the inheritance. Western laws give adults a lot of freedom of choice. It gave the children the right to protest about his parenting and it gave him the right to give his money to whoever. Billions of dollars are also willed to charity and a lot collected as death tax too.
If the mom got a divorce settlement and children broke contact with him and didn’t like him, respect him or cared for him then do you think the law should force him.
