Giving weapons training to students in Pakistan..

Wut an accomplishment. Pakistani policy makers must be proud of this moment. After training teachers, they are giving guns in the hands of students as well. So lets not define or fix the processes, rather lets give the guns to students on the name “extreme measures”. Is it just me who thinks its one of the craziest ideas?

KARACHI/MULTAN: As the threat of attacks on ‘soft targets’ looms in the wake of the deadly Taliban attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar that left 131 children dead, the federal and provincial governments are taking extreme measures to provide security to educational institutes.
On Thursday, staff and students from different schools in the country were provided ‘emergency training’ to tackle any crisis as part of this endeavour to provide enhanced security.

On the directives of the Punjab government, rescue officials along with representatives of the civil defence force, bomb disposal squad (BDS) and security agencies practised emergency drills at Public School Multan and held security training sessions with students and teaching staff.
A drill was conducted in which BDS officials wearing special suits demonstrated how to locate and defuse a bomb. The mock drill also involved giving assistance to ‘injured’ people lying in a patch of grass. Meanwhile, the security and rescue officials ‘evacuated’ the building and adjoining area.

Students who participated in the training expressed their resolve against militancy and said they were not afraid of any terrorist.
“We have received training and now we will utilise this if the need arises,” said one student at the Multan school.

Rescue officials also trained students on giving medical assistance to injured people in case of any terror attack. “We are being asked to provide emergency training to students. Girls’ schools are a priority as females have the tendency to panic more as compared to boys,” said Rescue 1122 district emergency officer Dr Rizwan.
“This emergency training practice is being carried out at different schools in the city on the directives of Punjab government,” said DCO Multan Zahid Saleem Gondal.

‘Students can face their fears’

In Sindh, the provincial police today approached teachers and students of the Mama Parsi school at the Razzaqabad Training Centre in Karachi to demonstrate self defence and weapons training.
Aside from emergency medical assistance, students and teachers were taught how to evacuate a building as well as use firearms if the need arose.
Spokesperson of the SSU Tahira Tariq, who is leading this campaign, said it is a part of the Sindh Police’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
“We were already training university students and staff before the Peshawar attack, but since then, scores of schools have approached us,” she said, adding that the next step is to train field journalists who she feels are at great risk of exposure to violence.
“I have analysed this from from a psychological perspective," Tariq added. “The idea is that once we face our fears, they will go away.”
“If a student suddenly sees or encounters a terrorist during an attack, they will not know what to do… After this training, the confidence level of the student will be built.”
She adds, however, that there is no guarantee that there will be no mishap even after extensive training.
SP Maqsood Memon whose department is in charge of this campaign told Dawn it is a way for teachers and staff to equip themselves.
“This is our expertise in counter-terrorism. We are doing for the government but we thought it should be given to civil society in case of an emergency — they should know what to do if the need arises,” he said, adding that it is a public service campaign free of charge.
As the Taliban intensifies its campaign against the government and military as a reaction to the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan, the fear of a backlash has generated panic and alarm in schools across the country.

The students and teachers were given training on how to fight terrorists, give first aid to those injured, protect themselves when bound, and how to jump off a moving vehicle.
Teachers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were given firearms training last month and were allowed to carry guns into the classroom in a bid to strengthen security following a Taliban massacre at APS Peshawar.
“Carrying firearms for every teacher is not obligatory, but all those who want to carry firearms to schools willingly will be provided with permits,” Atif Khan, provincial education minister of KP had said.
After the terrorist attack on the Army Public School and College Peshawar on Dec 16, 2014, the provincial government issued special security guidelines to the schools, colleges and universities.
Although guards were required to keep guns, teachers showed seriousness in getting training on how to use a gun in case ‘they need to defend the children’ in an emergency situation.

Re: Giving weapons training to students in Pakistan..

Actually, it is Islamic duty for all Muslims to learn and get training to use weapon. All Muslims are supposed to be available for military expeditions if state needs them and Khalifa (or ruler) wants them. It was during the time Umar (RA) when Muslims got divided into paid armed forces and civilians.

So, it is no bad thing that Pakistan is giving training to students so that they can use arms if required. This is especially needed in environment and situation that exists in Pakistan, where life of every person is in danger from terrorists hiding behind every stone.

Re: Giving weapons training to students in Pakistan..

Bhayya pehle baqi islamic duties puri karlo..

Just make sure students get quality education everywhere and all the time. That'll the best revenge.

Security teams should have guns not the students, atleast not at school level. In college yes there is NCC training which is acceptable

Re: Giving weapons training to students in Pakistan..

Brother, read Quran Surah 8 ... Ayah 59-61.:)

Quran Surah 8 ... Ayah 59-61: Let not the unbelievers think that they can get the better (of the godly): they will never frustrate (them). Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly. But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).

From above it is clear that A Muslim nation should be prepared all the time at their maximum strength (make ready your strength to the utmost of your power) ... and that means, all able body in the country should be trained).

At the same time, country should be prepared with best arsenals a country can obtain (including steeds of war).

This is instructed by Allah to Muslims, so that if time of self-defense comes, country should be prepared to its utmost and should never get caught unwary and unprepared. These preparation is for defensive purpose only, not offensive purpose, and that is also clear from the ayahs. As Ayah says that if enemy want peace or living in peace, than it is duty of Muslim to keep and honour that peace, trusting Allah.

Re: Giving weapons training to students in Pakistan..

yea khula tazad nahi lakin aap kee sonch khula tazad zaroor hay.

Washad-gard na madrasay kay tulba hain na angrazi mediu, school kay. Washat gard woh hain jo washat gardi kar rahay rahain. anyhow:

In Islam, such training has to come from state sponsorship or permission, and should be allowed universally or can be given selectively.

As for students of Madrasa, even though they are accused of taking military training without permission of state and against wishes of state, them getting declared as terrorist is not true. Them becoming recruiting ground to spread terrorism is the reason they are getting accused, and those who are getting labeled as terrorists (wahshat gard) are not student of madrasas, but those who have taken up arms against the state and unarmed people.

Anyhow, confusion in Pakistan is not a new thing. For instance, these days, mentally retarded terrorist supporters in political parties and media are comparing and equating as same, on TV talk shows and few newspaper article that terrorism of Al-Q, Taliban and sectarian outfits is same as crimes of political parties, independence movements and vested interests that we see present all over Pakistan.

These scums could not realize that A killing B for whatever reason, including politics, money or rights, is not same as what A-Q, Taliban and sectarian outfits are doing all over Pakistan neither that is terrorism. … but that is either crime (what happening in Karachi and interior Sindh) or genuine desire to live independent of Pakistan or to live with more economic or political control over their lives and are they are living (as happening in Baluchistan). One thing is common here, that is, wanting something for themselves (political influence, money or power) and fighting for it.

As for Al-Q, Taliban and sectarian outfits, these terrorists are not fighting something for themselves, be that independence, self-determination, political influence, money or power, they are fighting to suppress and subdue others throughout Pakistan and are fighting not only those they think are in their way, but they are fighting Pakistan and killing brutally men of Pakistan armed forces and civilians indiscriminately.

Example related to killing and turmoil in Sindh (especially Karachi) and Baluchistan … where other than criminal activities (killing for financial gains) … we also have:

Baluchistan: People are fighting for their rights what they deserve, that could be in the shape of independence, complete (economical and political) control over the area they live, or feeling of living in Pakistan as equal citizen without discrimination.

Karachi: People are killing due to financial interest (land and drug mafia or Bhatta Khors) or killing to increase their political influence (here, some parties might be using their workers and some are also using state machinery like police, rangers and courts). Anyhow, none but are fighting army the state (Pakistan) or Pakistan armed forces. What is happening in Karachi and interior Sindh, that is political killing, to extend it is also happening in Punjab (resulting in the biggest terrorist party of Pakistan, PMLN< already taking control of Punjab, and now uses Police, bureaucracy, judiciary and other state machinery to kill and subdue political opponents and also collect illegal bhatta, commission, lands, licenses and businesses, in big way).

In both Baluchistan, Punjab and Sindh (especially Karachi) cases, killings and turmoils are area specific.

To tackle crimes, country have to use police and law.
To tackle political killings and turmoil, country has to use political dialogues and sort of grievances of people.

But for A-Q, Taliban or Sectarian outfits, neither police nor dialogues is possible or coule be effective. These people have no financial, political interest or any interest on local issues, but they are damb terrorists terrorizing the entire nation, fighting state, and are killing all over Pakistan innocent people indiscriminately, be they from public, government employees or armed forces. To tackle them, Pakistan has to use all sources available and eliminate, rather exterminate them (send them to hell where they belong).

stupid decision to train the kids in using weapons

Re: Giving weapons training to students in Pakistan..

Bhai, aap paidah hotay hee haram kee looti hui duolat per palnay walay kutton kay pillon kay baray may kuch kewn nahi kahtay, jo hukumat karnay ka haq samjhtay hain kay unhay virasat may mila hay, aur jinhay virast may milay hain lakhon Zahni mareez Zombi janwar bhie jo un kay aik hukum pay apni jaan lutatay hain, balkay in haram khor pillon kay marnay kay baad bhie unhay pujtay hain?

Do you know that the day Pakistanis (and Pakistani armed forces) would get up and start exterminating all ‘haram khor pillays’ living in Pakistan (be they in political parties, police, judiciary or bureaucracy), hanging them from lamp posts at every corner and on every road junctions, Pakistan would come out of all turmoils, ills and every evil that country faces, and would progress to become developed and caring society. Until that day, these ‘haram khor pillays’ can have their party of evilness, but inshaAllah that day would come.
