How frequently do you give back to your alma mater? What types of initiatives do you contribute towards and why?
I have to admit that I’m not that good with donations to my schools but just the other day, I was thinking about it and realized that I had utilized scholarships and bursaries during my time on various occasions and I should contribute so that other deserving students can avail similar facilities.
I annually give to the my college. I haven't been active in Alumni circles, however I feel that its important to give back to the alma mater.
Not to be cynical, but it also works to your advantage, with higher alumni giving, the school rises in rankings, is able to provide more facilities, resources to students -- its definitely a win-win.
I know Cornell and Dartmouth alums gives loads of money to their alma mater (perhaps its due to the 4 years spent in the wilderness :D)
i'm a member of **Old Boys' Association of Aligarh Muslim University, ALIGARH, India**** and we collect small amount of money every month from other members and as a result we have administered a scholarship to 10 bright N needy students of AMU. alHamdolillah, it's working wonders and it's helping those who need it the most at AMU. :) alHamdolillah :)**
I give each year sometimes to general fund sometimes to special projects funds, plus have served as student mentor and on dans advisory council.
as they say help with your all or any of your time, treasure and talent
i have not given anything to my school/college and not planning either in future. i rather save that money and build a school where its needed. inshallah
