Giving a break for makeup

Does it help your skin breathe - if you don’t wear makeup for 2-3 weeks consecutively?

Is it recomended for brides or if you have a big event that you lay off the makeup , foundation 10-15 days before the major event

Any testimonials?

I think it is a good idea for a bride to lay off the make up for a while before the big day, but in general try to take breaks from make up regular like once or twice a week, thats what I try to do...

^ aali.m - does it help you?

I think its a great idea. I would like to warn though that it is an addictive behavior! once u get used to wearing no makeup, applying it is such a hassle hehe

Re: Giving a break for makeup

Just make sure before your wedding, that your still applying sun/polution block though, because if your skin is totally bare, the last thing you want is to break out!

Ooh I agree. I only wear make up at weddings (not even eid) and when i do wear it, its such an effort to put on and then take off, i dont know how ppl do it everyday lol

Me too! My daily "makeup" consists of sunscreen and chapstick. Any more than that feels like work.

Re: Giving a break for makeup

actually the one do get use to it .just do in minss :)but any way its better not to do it at all time as let show ur own beauty how u are instead of wearing all time and a person wearing makeup she if don wear one day she will seem to be ill or any thing gone wrong.:shireen:

Re: Giving a break for makeup

I absolutely hate removing makeup, especially around the eyes, so I don't wear it that often either, just on special occasions :)

same same

moisturiser and vaseline

i really should make more of an effort though but then I think "whats the point? im happy with how I look bare faced" the downside though is at weddings when i do the whole foundation, concealer, blusher, eye make up i look really done up :s lol

Re: Giving a break for makeup

^ I know and sometimes it can look OTT! Lol.

Re: Giving a break for makeup

It definetly helps, I wear make up everyday - foundation, blush, eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadows etc but when I was in bed with swine flu for 3 weeks or so I obv didn't need to/have the effort to get all dressed up. I noticed my skin was so much more healthier, spots and blemishes had cleared up and I had a nice litte after illness glow. I'd love to be able to do that every few months but I hate not wearing make up. I guess my skin will have to wait till the next life threatning illness lol

Yes it does, I actually used to wear make up everyday not like loads... and now I don't really wear make up as much only when I can be bothered and my skin is more clear then it used to be...

^he he he

You'll see the difference for sure. I used to wear makeup everyday but in an effort to clear out my skin from blemishes and breakouts, I didn't apply makeup for a month or two. My skin is so healthy now and I hardly need foundation to cover up. Follow your routine with regular masks, exfoliation, moisturizer etc. Your skin will love it!

Re: Giving a break for makeup

i think i am always wearing makeup, not the whole foundation, powder, concealer, blush, eyeshadow eyeliner etc, but at least two of those things everyday.
i hardly ever wear foundation, but i try to wear blush everyday on my own skin not on top of foundation or powder only, and i think blush makes such a big different in appearance that sometimes i do not really need foundation or powder.
ALHAMDULILAH, i do not have acne problem or noticeable scars so i never got in to the habit of wearing concealer, but if i had (god forbid) i would have worn concealer too everyday.
i also have some sort of eye makeup on too pretty much always, it is not always fully done with blending contouring etc, but most of the days one wash of color with eyeliner, or just eyeliner.

i use soap and water, or facewash to wash my face. for eye makeup i use olive oil. i really do not find wearing, or taking off makeup a hassle, i love makeup, and taking it off means just washing my face which i do even when i am not wearing makeup.

Re: Giving a break for makeup

I am so so so bad with the whole exfoliation/masks thing and my skin is suffering because off it.

Re: Giving a break for makeup

I don't wear make up on a daily basis. I used to wear just liquid eye liner on my top lash line, but just can't be bothered any more. I'm lucky in the sense that I have good skin so don't need to wear make-up on a daily basis - coz I think I'd be too lazy to keep it up!

Also I was always told by my mum not to be done up everyday, because then when you do actually dress up for a special occassion and wear make up etc you look no different to how you look every day!

Brides tend not to wear make up before the big day because it allows their skin to 'breathe' and also because they look plain before their big day and then on the day they have their make up done and they look amazzziinnnggggggg!

Maybe it was the swine flu...lol

Re: Giving a break for makeup

yes good idea to leave the skin without makeup for a while, and have regular facials and good skin care products
