True Story: an extended cousin of mine had to get a divorce (Nikkah had only happened, no rukhasti) because he went from clean shaven to having an unkept maulvi beard, dropped out of engineering school, and started talks of settling in the middleast (with no education). The beard was the first sign of strangeness but there were obviously other huge factors as well --> main thing was this guy changed so extremely dramatically that it scared my cousin and her family naturally.
Some people may think this was kinda extreme or harsh.... for her family to end the whole thing.
But to put it simply and bluntly - this is not what the girl had signed up for. And why go through the rukhasti and really discover how much the guy had changed. Gradual change is understandable to a sudden change like this is definitely shady... in my opinion.
Beard is sign of mardangi and it is supposed to attract girls like magnet, so girls what do u think about it?
remember girls, beard if use at the right place and time, can be quite effective.

PCG, just to make it clear, everything that is sunnah is not intended to make you and me look pretty also. You may not appear attractive while following your religious obligations, nevertheless the importance of following them does not go down.
for instance, if fasting makes your mouth smell does not mean that you should stop fasting. Same with beard. Its sunnah, in fact suunat-e-mo'akkadaa .. means the one that prophet not only did, but asked the men to do.
One cannot just deny that. And you and me arguing against the beard is not going to make beard any less important in Islam.

why does allah care if i have a beard or not TLK? Surely allah has more important things to worry about (i dont know like genocide of inncoent people etc)

Wow! you mean that you believe in Allah, yet still believe he is like to me and you worries about issues?
Oh my god if you are not Muslim then it is alright otherwise you have crossed a line which could make u unbecoming Muslim.
I am not here to give fatwa, and it always happen when we say something inadvertently say something wrong. But it is better to Astaghfar as soon as we realize.
