*The year 2009 is not one Shah Rukh Khan would like to remember. Billu, the film made by his production banner, flopped; his Kolkota Knight Riders campaign failed to bring results; he had to undergo a surgery and of course, there’s the detention episode in the US. His fan base, however only keeps increasing. The actor, who recently won a ‘Fun and Fearless’ award, talks about the experience.*How do you feel winning an award at a women’s event.
When I won the award, my daughter said, ‘You are getting a fearless award, but you are so scared of mom!’ According to my kids, I’m boring and I’m not fun. I’m happy to get this award as I was told that women voted for me. Now, I can tell my daughter that girls still want me! Let’s hope I can impress her.
Do you know what women want?
I don’t know if what I think is applicable to all. But I feel you have to be kind to women. You need to let them do what they want to. I believe that unless you trust a woman, you will never be able to make her happy. I don’t believe all those books that ask you to kiss her and say ‘I love you’ every morning.
Who are your favourite women?
I like Sonia Gandhi for her personality and her looks. I like my mother, my wife and my daughter. Among the actresses that I have worked with, I like Madhuri, Juhi, Kajol, Rani, Deepika, Priyanka, Aishwarya… all of them! I also like Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal and Mary Kom, the boxer lady. And I like Madonna a lot.

Farah Khan’s next film stars Akshay Kumar. That comes as a surprise as she always maintained that she would make films only with you.
We all say nice things about each other when we are releasing films and we do believe in what we say. Karan always talks well about me, but he needn’t make films only with me. A director offers you a film because you fit into the film. There is no point in getting worked up about something so trivial. Farah needs to work hard and she has done the right thing. This is her husband’s (Shirish Kunder) production. She can’t keep waiting for me to recover so that I can act in the film. I have heard the film’s story a couple of years ago and it is great. Farah is a fantastic director and she will surely make the film a super hit. When Farah has another script ready, we will do it together.
